Great finisher around goals for a mid. When he was at his best I always though he was the best mid in the comp forward of centre. Either lace out to fev or kicking goals.
Hopefully in a couple of years time he will be able to spend more time forward of centre as he would be a sensational small forward.

Still Essendon elimination for mine.. loved the way he went that day..

Last quarter of last game at Football Park for mine he was the guy that set the tempo we want in on these finals starting next week by captain's goal in last quarter when we were still down. His left foot kick to Waite out of traffic was sublime skill, then the follow up and goal just pure class.
About just over 3 and a bit minutes into this video clip.

Nice to see him injury free again and able to play at his best in 2017.

Let's talk about it.
It's Marc Murphy.
Do we think he will stay or go?

It's very relevant to fans IMO.
Where there's smoke there's fire , sometimes.

Articles about Blues saying they won't ask for a PP.

But at the same time articles about what we would get if MM leaves. In terms of comp.

Just a coincidence or are the club and AFL basically agreeing and colluding that we will get a pick for MM in lieu of not getting a PP?

One would be a fool to not think these things aren't discussed behind closed doors, sometimes .

Anyhow to the Qn .. If he does leave what pick do we think we would get?

Straight after our first?
End of first round??
Or as that article said middle of first???

I'd say there's a fair chance at the draft we will have...

1
19 (MM pick)
24
26

Something like that

I hope he goes.
I don’t think he adds a great deal on field, his absence has really allowed the next generation to start to figure out how they set themselves up without him, and in my view he’s been a poor captain who should never have been given it over Kade Simpson who’s a bloke you’d happily march into war with.

Flame suit on!

Is an honest chat better than lowballing?

I mean at the end of the day club is bigger than one person
Absolutely, it will come down to performance and output, he would need to demonstrate late in the season he can still contribute before they get to offers.

Bloody Plantar Fasciitis is tough to get over in a hurry though, Murph may need to sacrifice a bit in terms of remuneration, on field role and captaincy etc.

Take an end of first / start of second , call it what you like but sounds about right.
Hot potato footy doesn't cut the mustard where we hope to be heading especially from experienced "leaders".
Use the pick and next year's first rounder to pay for Wines after we convin$e him to nominate us.
Take Lukosius with pick 1 this year and Shiel for free as a FA next year.
CFC ready to rock n roll ...

I hope he stays. And that's only if he wants to stay.
I think he can still add something to our half forward flank/pocket drifting in and out of midfield.
If the compensation for him going was looking like it will be a first rounder, I'd be more bullish on him going. But for what we'd get for him (from what I've seen on here)I think we (as a club) are better to have him stay.

I would be upset if the club were pushing him out - which I doubt.

Marc is still the best outside mid on Carlton's books - by a country mile. He will be a one Club player - just like Simmo will be. People will like him more when he helps the Club transition to a new Captain next year and returns to playing great football when he is over his foot injury. Too important to structure and offensive capability to let go for peanuts - too important to culture to treat badly.

Maybe his body is shot and he is almost done? He’s had a lot of injuries over the years and I believe has never really been the same ever since Dangerfield crunched him back in 2012.

I’d like him to stay on, but just offer him a one year deal for about 400k base but heavily incentivized on how many games he plays, meaning that could rise to 600k or so.

If someone comes in and offers a 2-3 year deal, so be it. Wouldn’t be responsible offering a guy over 30 who struggles to get on the park more than a one year deal.

We would have to play awful footy to get pick 1 this year, cant see how St.Kilda or Gold Coast beat us unless we orchestrate it.
I think the Saint will turn it around pretty quickly and Suns and Lions are stubborn at home. 18th position is all about always quality of personnel and fitness and the quality of opposition.
St. Kilda are strongest between the bottom 4 , followed by Lions pending on how may Gabba games they play then it's between Baggers and Suns for 18th.
