Cunningham (hallelujah)
Haines (poor fella)
Edgecumb (who??)

GORN. Delisted. Chopped.

That's 8 out (Simmonds, T-Lo, Clive, Crowley, Doswell, Edgecumb, Cunningham, Haines)...

and 2 in (Carr, Black).

So we have 6 spots on the senior list.

My guesses:

(i) Dodd and Smith elevated
(ii) 3 late draft picks (who will all be delisted in 2 years time ala the 3 late draft picks of 2002 who have all just got the chop)
(iii) 1 PSD pick

That's the 6 for the main list, then:

(iv) 2 in the rookie draft to replace Dodd and Smith.

We got rid of Colreavy from the rookie list too, so if we elevate Smith then we'll have 3 rookie picks.
We don't actually have to elevate him, though, there is an obscure rule called the "eligble rookie" that allows for 1 or 2 rookies to be able to play without needing to retire/injury list anyone, iff you only have 1 or 0 veterans (ie max vets + eligble rookies = 2). As we only have Parker as a vet, we can leave him on the RL and draft someone else. I guess it will come down to money, the only other benefit in drafting in the National draft over the Rookie draft is that you have to over 18 to go in the rookie draft, but 17 and 6/8/9? months in the national draft.

And IP, no reason to be so pessimistic about late picks.. just remember when Woodsie, Medders etc were drafted.

I would have been more surprised if cunners had actually been kept ON the list next season.

Just quietly... I've heard there's this real roughie in South Australia... might be worth a punt at around pick 250... been around a while and played a few blinders over a few years, but never really made the grade, but hey at 250 if he plays a few good games for us and is on a 17th round draftees wage (around $6K base - won't even trouble the tax man!!) he might go okay. I think his name is Clive something. ;)

nah, not meant to sound pessimistic... just a touch ummmm... well I'm just amused that we have ended up with 3 late draft picks at a time when we have just delisted the last 3 "late draft picks" we picked up after their minimum length draftee contract had expired.

Still think we're travelling okay with our young guys - at the least we have scored Byron, Polly, Murphy, Dunn and Mundy from the last few years who can all play and are all aged 20 or under at the moment + a band of others around the 19-22 mark who will all be pushing for positions and *hopefully* keeping the guys in the 22 honest. I don't think after having 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder last year that it is such a bad thing to be virtually sitting out of this year's draft. But only time will tell.

Then of course there are Woodsy and Medders at picks 50+; and our crop of elevated rookies from the last few years who are all in the 22 - 25... so not overly concerned.

I can just see that there is a touch of irony Pope, that's all... ;)

me again...

with the great picks we do have, you would have to think that we would only draft WA boys, really.
The likelihood of picks 53, 59 and 73 (or whatever the bloody hell they are) actually having a long and successful AFL career are pretty slim. CC has also said he wants to concentrate on WA boys for all the reasons he stated when he said it. All last years boys are Vics, the ones from the year before all from "over east", and now all gorn (with the exception od Lord Byron of course).
I would hope that with picks that late that a bit of common sense is exercised and the picks used to give some local guys a shot...

My 2c.

You would think so. Hopefully they have another 211 or Happy or One Melee Dodd or Sir Robert hidden away . ;)

I am not that big of a fan of smith or dodd. The three that were delisted were never going to be star players so not to disappointed. Its very unlikely that we will pick up much talent that late in the draft either.
Do does anyone think spriggs is any good.
We have a quality midfield but i think you can never have to many midfielders. I would be looking to pick up a ruckman and a couple midfielders in the draft.

Dodd IMO has the potential to be a very good player. He also physically is a good size.

Smith is limited in what he can do but he won't be the worst player on our list if promoted, which he will be. He's good in bad conditions.

I think Cunningham could get another opportunity at another club.

bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.......

Oh sorry - seriously good luck to him if he does, but while we have no doubt he is reasonably adept at getting the ball, he has no freaking idea what to do with it when he gets it, then when he finally makes up his mind, he fluffs it completely.

I wish him well, he's a hard worker and by all accounts a good bloke, and a good - slightly above average WAFL player.

Correction IP you cant have 2c, no such thing. Try 5c now :D

Seriously tho, hopefully they can draft a backup ruckman. Otherwise I'm gonna be having nightmares bout us losing JLo or 211 and us having no backup ruck. Warrens abit short for a ruck I'd have thought anyway.
