You all know right he's pretty much a local Essendon boy. Grew up 10 minutes from Windy Hill.

Can't remember who he actually barracked for though as a kid..

So us picking up Chappy now instead of the DFA period does that mean maybe we have our sights on another DFA?? Or just wanted to get the trade done & out of the way??

Ps I think it's funny that Chappy was the best out of all 3 (Chappy, Pods & Hunt) & we got him for the cheapest! All be it they where all late pics but still we came out best! Winning.... Hahahahaha

None of the above.

Geelong are just a great club, and will always look after their players. We will give them away if it helps them get to a new club. We do it all the time.

You can thank Geelong, not EFC. :)

The pick trade was done purely to get it out of the way. Pick 84 is Geelong's eighth pick in the draft- in other words, they won't use it.

And with us now having 55 in addition to 26 and 66, and with the upgrading of Dalgleish, we weren't going to use 84 either.

It's purely a token trade to get it done and out of the way. Geelong pretty much expediting the situation for Essendon, really.

mmm...other past examples?

Steven King. Pretty sure there was another player they traded to the Saints for a nothing pick. They have a history of it. Good club in that regard.

Edit: Steven King and Charlie Gardiner traded for Pick 90. Tim Callan and Pick 66 traded for Pick 62. And that's just one year.

They traded Steven king because they wanted him gone asap, Bomber stole his girlfriend. The old dog has still got it, still with her I'm pretty sure.

They traded Steven King because he wanted to leave because he wasn't going to get a game and he knew it.

They would of traded him for a half eat burger.

He was part of the 22 that previously won the flag, no team trades a premiership player unless they have to.

He did want to leave yes, but because he was angry that Bomber was pegging his missus under his nose and eventually shacked up with her.

How many games did he play in 2007?

Pretty sure 'those' rumours surrounded a certain Geelong full forward who had departed the year before.

Anyway, that's all rumour, and this is not really the thread to get into it.

P.S try not to get jealous of my sick '98 South Park-esque animation skills. I have zero experience with this shit and only made it so I could gif it.

Listen here Champ before you post I suggest you understand what's being said before you go in to bat for your club for no reason! 1st of all I was asking other ESSENDON posters if they thought we may chase someone else now during the DFA period because we picked Chappy up via a trade instead of the predicted DFA!!

Secondly I wasn't having a dig at your club, it was more of a joke between our club, GWS & Adelaide & it was light hearted at best! Was just saying we got the better 1 out of the 3 for the least pick (which Geelong wont use any of them anyway)....

& finally how we got Chappy via trade doesn't reflect generosity on either club! We were going to pick up Chappy 1 way or another through the DFA period so seriously we had no need whatsoever to get him via a trade, so to say your club did the right thing by him to trade him to us is complete & utter crap!! If your club wanted to do the right thing by Chappy they would've given him another 1 year deal atleast! Why would your club trade out players who have already agreed to terms of the clubs of their choice to join through DFA period for 3 late picks they have absolutely no intention of using??

Here's a little scenario for you- What if your club came to our club + Adelaide & GWS & said "Hey guys any chance you can give us 1 of your latest picks that you's will not use in the draft for our player that you intend to sign via DFA just so we can give them their wish in their final send off just to make us look better that we are taking shit picks in the hope of seeing our Premiership stars that we have no use for & were going to delist anyway make it to the club of their choice".... What if that's how it panned out? Are you's the nice guys then or the clubs that co-operated with your request??

Geelong does have a history of trading guys to club of choice for late round draft picks.. and I think it is a gesture that all clubs should do..

Gets it done and sorted.. and out of the way.. as stated neither team is going to use/need 5th round.. so its a non-issue..

And we get to see Chappy in bombers colours quicker!!!

Bring on 2014
