For us to be top 4, he'd have to be playing twice as good as he is now.

Yes! twice as good as he is now would probably supplement the other 10 players holding you out of that top 4 which was non existent in his post 07 Geelong tenure :D It's like going back to 2004 for him.

No hamstring concerns this year. 2013 was a one off.

Meanwhile Shane Kersten was mediocre as all get out for Geelong before his own ironic hamstring injury. Baffling list management.

Wasn't he the Pods replacement, Bartel playing forward to be the Chappy replacement and GHS replacing Bartel off HB?

All I know is that it was curious that Geelong let him go.. and his form this year has confirmed my earlier opinion.

Hasn't been a 'superstar' by any stretch.. but solid best 22? You farking bet.

My opinion: his worst game was against Geelong.. probably no surprise there. I thought he looked like he needed a spell as he had become too sluggish and when Watson went down I thought he was being used in the midfield a bit too much. He has played 18 games so far, 5 of which were 'best 3 on ground' level.. 10 were 'average to above average' and 3 were 'poor'... that is a bloody good return imho.

Plus you have the coaching/mentoring side of things and the leadership, finals experience etc etc.

Nothing but a positive move for EFC imho. Still remains Geelongs worst list decision in probably over 5 years.

Listening to him talk at the sponsors' night, the biggest thing Chappy has brought across is a culture where criticism is able to be given and received much more directly - the big thing he was talking about was having the culture of taking it all on board because at the end of the day, the intention is to make your mates better players.

Very happy with his year. A bit quiet through the middle of the season, but overall I couldn't be happier. Will be very important for us next year if we are to push top 4 (which should absolutely be the goal).

I really hope he plays on. I'm quietly confident that he will.
I think it's automatic isn't it? He had a trigger clause in his contract conditional on playing a certain number of games - which he easily met.

Yes, the only thing stopping him is if he decides he's had enough, but I suspect he wants another year.

Fair call. I was sure it was a 2 year contract conditional upon games, so it would be unlikely he would step away.

How the heck did he bust open the centre square like he did?

How does little Chappy with suss hammies do that but Zaka in his physical prime can't do anything of the sort?
It's not that he's particularly quick, he just knows where to run to get through packs.

big game player, showed why we brought him to the club in the first place
good, solid year in the home and away. tried to get us over the line (as did Goddard, our other experienced, finals seasoned recruit), unfortunately, enough players didn't follow.

definitely want him to play on next year
