Beat up.

But, if true.. He can go and take a punt someone else will pick up a 33 year old with questionable hammies.
We shouldn't be held to ransom by Chapman, as good as his season was. We did the right thing by him and gave him pretty good coin.

I like Chappy, hope he's with us next year, it's great to have that sort of experience around the club. If it's true that he wants to go 100% from day one then let him, and if his body holds out it's a bonus, if not then one of the kids can step up.

We'll be losing at least him and Fletch at the end of next year, so there's plenty of opportunity for others if they want to take it.

Still think he was a pretty questionable recruit and I'm not sure what the club was trying to achieve, he gave his all though of course. He's not going to win a flag with us anyway.
Teaching teammates how to prepare, telling them what it takes to achieve the ultimate along with playing some very good football. I thought this was obvious. I'm positive no-one thought he was going to win us a flag. I'd give his recruitment a 7.5/10. Not just for on-field !!

Not too fussed. He was good in spurts (as expected) but he was seriously battling to raise a gallop in the second half of some games. Watched him a bit off the ball and he was completely shot.

I feel a bit the same about Cooney but we'll see how he goes.

Played 20 games, finished top 10 B&F, fans absolutely loved him, players would have been picking his brain for his wealth of knowledge, it is no different to having Fletch play on. They are like playing assistant coaches and whilst they may not be apart of our next premiership they are playing a pivotal role in the careers of players that will be. Chapman was just about our best player in the Elimination Final so it is quite obvious we are a better team with him in it.

Essendon is confident veteran Paul Chapman will remain at the club in 2015 with negotiations on a new deal heading in the right direction.

Chapman played 20 games in the red and black during his first season at the club finishing ninth in the club’s best and fairest.

General Manager Football Operations Rob Kerr said he was confident the club would come to an agreement with Chapman to play on.

“It was disappointing to see the story in Sunday’s paper as we have been comfortable with how negotiations have been progressing over the last few weeks,” Kerr said.

“Adrian Dodoro in his role as list manager has been negotiating with Paul’s agent Liam Pickering on a new agreement.”

“Those negotiations were continuing last week and we believe are headed in a positive direction with what we considered a fair and reasonable approach.”

“Based on those discussions we feel we are fairly close to reaching an agreement with Paul given the way in which those negotiations have been progressing.”

He is GAWN!

When we first recruited him i was dubious given the development game time that he would be taking away from the kids. But i was soon on the band wagon when i realised how much the players had to gain from his experience... If Carlisle has just clicked early in the season rather than late, then we could have given the finals a bit of a shake this year (not that i think we would have won).
I think Chappy remains an outside chance of getting a flag with us in 2015. To say that no one thought he would get a flag with us is to write off 2015, and I doubt that most fans out there were willing to do that 12 months ago, or in fact are willing now.

Plausible, but you'd really hope our youth is pushing him out of the best 22 next year let alone 2016.

Yeah true.

Once he pulls the pin hope he sticks around in some sort of coaching role want blokes like Zachy Merret to learn off the best in crumbing and kicking snap goals.

Should never have picked him up in the first place. Only reason to is if we are a serious premiership chance within his two years here, which we are not. All it was going to do is squeeze out a kid that should be getting games, eg Kavanagh
