I was at the 1992 Anzac Day game. Melbourne kicked the first goal of the final term to extend the margin to 47 points, which was, at the time, the biggest a team has trailed DURING the last quarter to win.

I think St.Kilda trailed Sydney by 48 points in 1994 early in the last quarter to beat it, in the match where Plugger cleaned up Peter Caven.

Not AFL, but I remember Glenelg coming back from 53 points down to beat Sturt in the 1986 Escort Cup. It's on YouTube.
About a second after Jim West kicked that goal I punched my Glenelg supporting brother in a pre-emptive strike against any gloating.

48 I reckon
Correct.

17.6 (108) to 8.12 (60) with 16.20 to go in the final term. The Swans had kicked the opening two goals of the quarter.

After that, the Saints kicked 8.2 to 0.1 to win by a point.

I remember that day well - I was there. It was remarkable to witness.
