1. Still hard to believe my eyes when I see Buddy and Kurt combining to kicks goals for the Swans. That we got a premiership without them but then our club decided to spoil us even more is something I'm grateful for.

2. We'll have no better chance for a flag than the next 5 seasons. That's when our two forwards and our best mids will still be at their peak.

3. Our best is the best.

Jetta is still struggling and need s a spell in the 2's
McVeigh can butcher the ball
Thank god we don't have a return game at Simmonds for once

Haha. Yes Bedders that was my impression from the 110 pt margin...we must fear them. ;)

Well Lewis needs to be careful, because there's a pacey bloke called Harry Cunningham who can play in that role, who uses it well, can kick a goal and works both ways.

If he's not careful it will be

IN: Tom Mitchell OUT: Lewis Jetta.

You seriously want to make changes to a side that beat the No 2 team by 110 points? Why? Jetta was good when required, same with the likes of Reid (who seems to be coppng it on other threads here). One of the most important things come finals time is to have a settled side ... if jetta (or anyone else) were seriously out of form or guilty of a series of bad mistakes over a period of games, yes, there'd be an argument to drop him, but we've now won, what? Six on the trot? The ONLY reason we'd make changes this week are due to injury or, in the case of Pyke, returning a player who was forced out by injury. And in Pyke's case it could be argued we could leave Derickx there for now because of his good form, let Pyke have another week to get healthy.

By the way, I do acknowledge you're prefacing your post with "If he's not careful ..." but this is a comment aimed at all those suggesting Jetta is under threat ... I don't mean to be picking on you.

1. That those on this board who argued we should model ourselves on Geelong are looking very sheepish.
2. That those whose who said we had too many talls are strangely silent.
3. That suddenly everyone wants to get on the Birdwagon.
3(a). That those who thought Goodes was past it are nowhere to be seen.
3(b). That Horse's knockers are strangely silent.
3(c). That fans who thought Shaw should retire need to rethink their positions.
3(d). That Eski is the perfect ambassador for LARS.

I believe I was driving the Birdwagon some years ago, or at least right there in the front seat passing the driver mints from the glove box.
I do admit to being one who questioned whether we'd ever see Goodes back and healthy enough to do what he's doing; that he is is a tribute to the man but I still suspect he might be going at the end of the season (with another premiership medallion, that'd be nice).
I remain yet to be totally convinced on Shaw.
I don't believe I've ever called for Horse's head or said we had too many talls; I am still worried about the future ramifications on other players' contracts of the Franklin deal but if we're winning premierships in the meantime, I can live with it.

I respect your opinion mate but these types of posts are really annoying.

As are ones that begin "I respect your opinion mate but ...."

I'm sure you respect my right to have an opinion JG but your tone is condescending.

It annoyed me that so many bagged our team when we were struggling but are nowhere to be seen when the humble pie is served. DG and I have had disagreements but I'll tip my hat to him for being quick to put up his hand if he's wrong or to defend his arguments. Heck, he even makes sense sometimes.

I only hope that if the time comes when I'm ever wrong about something I'll be just as up front.

You sure were. I was the one in the back singing out of tune and dropping sticky mints down the back of the seat.

If this keeps up it'll be time to trade in the old Birdwagon and buy a Birdbus. You can still drive.

BTW: I think Kells would be happy with the way Bird goes about his game in the Number 14. Low key and businesslike, letting his play talk louder than his words (haircut/tatts/media presence)

2. That those whose who said we had too many talls are strangely silent.
The Pyke injury kind of forced the coaching staff into having one less tall than some of us had feared. Whether or not one of them would have been dropped when Tippett came back from injury is a mystery we may never know, but it's doubtful they will go with 2 ruckman given recent success with the part timers.

But yeah it is working well, Buddy's athleticism and tackling pressure pretty much eliminates any issue with height. Love his defensive efforts.

I know for a fact that the greatest 14 is happy with the present!

What's wrong with no. 1? Just because they've lost to us by that amount it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with their model. Their development is first rate.

Bullshit. When we lost to GWS people said it was pathetic and embarrassing, that is still 100% true and will forever remain 100% true. When certain posters were criticising the game plan because players were bombing it long in terrible forward entries, that was 100% true and the fact we are no longer doing it doesn't change the fact that we were.

Criticism of the team when it was playing like shit is as valid as praise of the team when it is now playing well.

Well.

Yes.

Exactly.

Game plan has significantly changed. Who knew that AFL grounds had centre corridors?

1. Apologies Mr Goodes for suggesting you be dropped. :) Even though it was indigenous round and your Mum designed the jumper. Thought your knee(s) were shot but looks like you can rise again. Good on ya. We need ya.
2. Wrong about 2 rucks. T-Rex how long can you keep going?
3. Please don't peak here -

Go Swans

Absolutely. It's one of those things you're happy to be proven wrong about.

Yeh great post and points.

Point 2 is the kicker for me.

I lol'ed at norf for having the one ruck thing over the last few years that didn't seem to work for them and thought our 2 ruck set up was mandatory.

Very wrong.

I am also worried about how long Derickx can keep it up though. We shall see I guess.

As for Derickx he is in his prime age for a ruckman(26) but has only played 11 AFL games so his body has hardly been battered and bruised he should have no issue solo rucking for the rest of the season if Pyke struggles to get up.

So those sticky things were mints??? Thank goodness ...

I agree Vonn. They're a great team. We're also a great team and our own model works for me.

I agree with everyone.
