What universe are you living in? I’m living in the one where I fully expect the AFL to scrutinise an Essendon player of wrongdoing by getting punched in the face by a Sydney player.

This all day long. For any one surprised by the fact that Heeney escaped sanction, I've got a bridge to sell you.

The universe in which Tom Hickey was found not to have had prior opportunity after trotting off from a ruck contest. A universe we're most unfortunate to inhabit.
Your cynicism is sadly not misplaced.

I mean, how is a bigger deal not being made of this? Rhetorical question...

Not this game. This was a few threads ago in the rich tapestry of us getting shafted in Sydney.
Rampe climbing the goal post like a monkey

Out of contract this year and Zerk has only managed 13 games in his 3 years at the club....now that we have top 10 draft pick Reid taking his place it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't play another senior game.... I hope I'm wrong but you'd have to say at this stage it looks like his AFL career is over and I'm not sure he's shown enough to be picked up by another club either...

Doubt it personally. Our key back stocks are incredibly thin. Ambrose and Stewart (a converted forward) are basically permanent rehab lurkers. Hurley, who even knows. Francis is a flanker. Laverde’s injury history is shocking, That’s basically it aside from a first gamer in Reid. At this point, it’d be highly irresponsible to lose BZT. Not due to form, more just default.

At least he has come out and played well after being dropped.

Yeah he was good. Kick the ball well. Was beaten, as opposed to not being able to do anything to stop a forward in space against a dominant opponent, once that I recall.

He's a depth player and he if plays at the level he has so far this year he'll continue to be a depth player.

Agree. Right now he has a fair bit to improve on and I am not sure he can find a few levels.

Playing well in the VFL...
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher
Stats: 22 disposals, 11 marks, two tackles

“He was one of our better players. He took 11 marks as a defender, so he was really pro-active in the way he played and he used the ball pretty well. He defended pretty well for us on the day under enormous pressure.”

I’m not certain he’ll make it but he’s a 22 year old key defender. I think this year and next will give a better indication.

If nothing else there’s nothing wrong with having key tall depth but hopefully he improves.

This guy reminds me of a young Brian Harris (Lake). He was a no frills, unremarkable key defender that the Dogs persisted with and saw blossom.

Zerk will be fine, relax.
