Without having seen the stats, I don't think he was terrible playing against guys bigger than himself

A bit like Hooker was early on. Lacks confidence with his kicking and will make mistakes but did some nice things. It would be good to see him get another game next week.

Thought he played pretty well for late-inclusion debutant.

Got beat in the air a couple of times (that hold on McCarthy was textbook inexperience induced panic) but once the ball hit the ground he was mopping up very well i reckon.

Definitely one for the future. Needs a couple of good feeds though.

I was excited to see him play but was worried he'd be out of his depth. He wasn't. Very impressive debut.

Also liked how we used him as a target for kick outs a couple times as that's one area we really struggle in without JD.

Hurley was out-marking Warren Tredrea in his first game! It was obvious straight away that he was a pretty special player. I can't remember a key defender coming in and playing a better game first up although Francis had a ripping first game too I think.

Intensity difference between VFL and AFL is substantial - first impression was that he can handle it. Has the desire and physical ability to compete.

Needs muscle and got lost a couple of times but a promising debut.
