You were saying? :p

I was tempted to cite the many posts bagging him, but that would detract from the joy of simply focusing on W80 and what he brings, which is heaps, every single game he plays for us.

Don't you know 'special' is a word reserved for 'special' players? So, yep, good call!!

Absolutely fantastic pick up. I knew those doubting this FA pick up were barking up the wrong tree, and thought he'd be of great value, but he's exceeded my expectations. Absolutely love the big fella!

His contested marking, his confident and accurate goal kicking, his competitiveness, his defensive pressure and tackling, his synergy with the other forwards, his leadership and maturity, his inspiration and support to the younger brigade, his embracing of the club (says and means 'we'), helping to maintain and enhance the Shinboner culture, and being a good bloke to boot.

What a shame we got him so late in his career, for his sake and ours. I hope his body allows him to continue past this year, or even longer. Special!

I think he'll see himself as North (for the experience he's had with us) and Carlton (for the longevity and family ties) and won't see this as an issue, nor should he. I'm content he'll have a soft spot for us.

He took a while to mature and he did really enjoy himself at Carlton for some time but just became a bit dispirited after a while, and then with Malthouse that was the last straw! We all know about his injury battles and brain fades, BUT, BUT, he is a great player and can really turn it on big time when he has his confidence up - cat-like for a big, strong man, with uncanny skills; he gets the fans excited, is an entertainer, and has a bit of swagger about him - used to really get my adrenalin pumping when he was on song!!!

Great to see him doing so well at North and extending his career - if managed well he can play for another two years without a problem. Used to annoy me when he was at Carlton and supporters from other clubs would call him a spud - just laughable, as he was one of the most naturally talented big-men I have ever seen in the game. Yes, just imagine he was starting his career again as a 20-year-old with his head switched on from day one! Just imagine!

Must admit - he looks good in the North jumper! Waite really is something to be savoured, and he ain't no spud!

Such a bullshit suspension:
1 arm free.
Player was about to kick ball for goal.
Wasn't a full rotation ta ckle.
Pretty sure he won a free kick for the tackle for holding the football.
You wouldn't have looked twice at the tackle if Thompson hadn't been concussed. It wouldn't have even been reviewed.

Do we challenge it and risk 2 weeks?
Such a wrong position - the Adelaide players steps towards Waite to take on the tackle so he can position / rotate Waite and snap the ball with his right foot towards the goal. His momentum adds to the sling. If Waite just tries to hold him and not drag him to ground he would have given up the goal.

I loved what he could do at the Blues too; more so now! ;)

Thanks for the input.

I never took much notice of him before he came here but he is a gun. Cat like is a great description. He's an agile athlete and crumbed two or three goals of his six on the weekend.

Lots of players get called spuds on BF. Usually by people who never played a game at that level. Its the internet tho so we should expect that sort of thing.

Absolutely no denying his talent! Looks like now he is focussed, contributing a lot of solid 1%ers and really enjoying his footy with North and has embraced the club and supporters; pity about the suspension - not deserved in my book - what was he supposed to do tackling a big bloke?! Hopefully he is managed well (seemed to have a few issues with his hips/groin at Carlton - reckon his prowling cat-like gait might contribute!:D) and can extend his highlight reel!

Cheer him on - he's a confidence player!

It was you bloody North buggers that were the biggest culprits calling him a spud!;)

Great pic's of Waitey - was (still is) one of my faves - a rare talent indeed when fit and on song, and great to watch! Looks like a scene out of Braveheart or a Rutting Stag displaying to its harem!
Here is a back view of that picture of Waite. As you can see he has clearly given Lynch more than a concussion which isn't apparent from the front. He is lucky to only have gotten one week

Does anyone else wonder if he's sore?

I mean he just came back from a serious injury a lot earlier than most expected. If he was even a 50% chance to play, it would make perfect sense that you wouldn't bother challenging.

Where in the AF did that line of logic come from?
He didn't look at all sore on the weekend and finished the game strongly.
He just got screwed by the MRP. Pure and Simple with no conspiracy theories......

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. I am.
Brad's presser tells the true story though, not worth the risk of 2 weeks.

Injured? Or did they rest him this game? :/
Even if there were mitigating circumstances - eg injury - Waites career continues to have no 7/10 types of games.

It's either BOG or little impact. And I doubt think it's effort related just the way it always seems to be.
