Can't believe port have consulted with lawyers in regards to activating the get out clause. It's only day 3 of the trade period ffs!
And they claim they want to do a fair deal lol i hope their club goes back to putting tarps on seats.

Thats the new swear filter coming in is it? Replacing campaignerish?
Heh.

Portish: To be unreasonable when discussing trades. eg:
Port list manager: "Pick 16 for Ryder is fair"
BF bombers board referring to ANY trade scenario: "Dyson plus our 3rd round should get the deal done"
Richmond list manager: "We get Shaun Hampson for pick 28? where do i sign!?"

I'm sure the clause was not written for the purpose as a tool for leverage in a trade. Really low. There was a time when there were at least some ethics when trading players. Those days are gone I'm thinking.

a) there'd be no point doing it on the last day as you wouldn't have time to actually make the play, and
b) it's just a negotiating tactic, trying to ramp up the pressure

No I think they've resigned to the fact that if none of their players want to come to Essendon then that is the only way they'll get him.

Surely EFC would have done the same thing, and be aware of the potential danger of it happening. Hird and Dodoro seem fairly non-fussed about the clause.

I understand taht 17 and 37 is unders.. but Port doesn't really have a lot of room. They aren't going to give up a top 5 player.. and that player won't want to come to the club.. same as if someone what Zaka, or Heppell or Watson or Daniher.. no chance..

So sometimes it is a case of making the best deal possible. If we trade right, draft right.. then we can secure two very good young players with those picks.
This sucks all ways.. but at the same time.. Ryder 'could' do a knee Round 1 and then you get nothing.. so life isn't always fair.. it is about making the right play.

Three way deal:
Port Out: 17 + 37
Port In: Ryder

GWS In: 37 + 19
GWS Out: Giles + Jaksch

EFC In: 17 + Giles + Jaksch
EFC out: 19 + Ryder

Seems about right to me.

Sorry Rines I liked your GC instead of GWS version better.

GWS is getting ripped in that deal and so are we.

Jacksh is a tallish defender yes. Not something we need.

That looks OK so long as Jaksch becomes the Pavlich clone people hyped him to be. I'd prefer a ready-to-go top 10 player to help push this generation toward a flag.

whats the realistic chance he will be a gun?
I'll answer that with a question? Has he done anything to lift his side in a game for GWS yet? Showing signs of maybe being a good solid player so far. Then again I haven't looked at him from an internal perspective (club-wise, not speculum-wise).
