We have to. He's our best ruckman and in our top five players.

There's making a strong statement, and then there's shooting oneself in the foot. Cutting off the nose to spite the face. Dropping him would definitely be the latter two.
I thought your schtick was to mix those together Doss.

Paddy to jump over the top of Goldy at the centre bounces and give us dominance with centre breaks. He will break his record 13 tackles from first full game in the ruck. He will also run off the dinosaur Goldy and kick 6 goals. After the game he will hold a press conference saying how he's not going anywhere and has just signed a 10 year contract extension for 100k less because he wants some money in the kitty for another free agent.

Top bloke.

So if the club get confirmation from Paddy today that he does want out, do we select him to play in the clubs biggest game for nearly 10 years ?
of course you ******* do.

Without Ryder we can't win, given there's no Fletch and no Carlisle. So of course you play him.

If the club even contemplated such a course of action...well, it's not something I can even bring myself to contemplate, it'd make me that angry.

Would also damage relationships with other players too you would think, ive gotten over the fact Paddy might leave, ill follow his career with interest if he does but right this minute he needs to play the best 4 games of his life.

Hi guys

Was at a finals charity lunch at the MCC today, one of the speakers was none other than a certain EFC board member / Paddy's former ruck coach / still casual mentor

To summarise:

- speaks to Paddy regularly, incl in past week. Loves Essendon and extremely close to a number of players. They're focused on Saturday and give zero ****s regarding this stuff

- Paddy has had a career best year... manager appears to talk about lucrative contract extension... no great shock, par for the course, management 101 really

- clause in contracts re duty of care well known by now, trotted out by media every time one of our players is talked about come this time of year. Expect more of it.

- very little ASADA news, nothing happening, nothing can be done or said til Middleton makes his judgment

Maddens opinion - all the above has combined for the journos to do what they do, put a few unrelated things together and come up with a story which has obviously had the desired effect and created buzz

Surprise surprise, linked club is Brisbane, have by far the most cap space. They're probably better served for ruckman than any other position though, reportedly not interested.

Obviously anything is possible in footy but after today I'd be happy to bet my left nut (and hell, the right too) that the big fella will be in red and black for many years to come.

Now I forget this horseshit and LOL Norf.

that's great news... Did you ask him what's happened to Bulletride? We're all pretty concerned.
