Hi guys

Was at a finals charity lunch at the MCC today, one of the speakers was none other than a certain EFC board member / Paddy's former ruck coach / still casual mentor

To summarise:

- speaks to Paddy regularly, incl in past week. Loves Essendon and extremely close to a number of players. They're focused on Saturday and give zero ****s regarding this stuff

- Paddy has had a career best year... manager appears to talk about lucrative contract extension... no great shock, par for the course, management 101 really

- clause in contracts re duty of care well known by now, trotted out by media every time one of our players is talked about come this time of year. Expect more of it.

- very little ASADA news, nothing happening, nothing can be done or said til Middleton makes his judgment

Maddens opinion - all the above has combined for the journos to do what they do, put a few unrelated things together and come up with a story which has obviously had the desired effect and created buzz

Surprise surprise, linked club is Brisbane, have by far the most cap space. They're probably better served for ruckman than any other position though, reportedly not interested.

Obviously anything is possible in footy but after today I'd be happy to bet my left nut (and hell, the right too) that the big fella will be in red and black for many years to come.

Now I forget this horseshit and LOL Norf.

Essendon Football Club has no intention of trading Paddy Ryder.

Paddy is contracted until the end of the 2016 season and is a valued and much loved member of our playing group.

Current media speculation about his future is premature and ill-informed.

The Club and Paddy had already agreed to sit down and discuss any concerns he has post season.

It is extremely disappointing that Paddy’s manager Paul Connors has chosen to play these matters out in the press on the eve of the Club’s finals campaign.

These actions have put unnecessary pressure on Paddy and his family.

Efc statement:

Paddy a much loved and contracted player. Disappointed in ryders manager, Connors, for playing this out in public.

All it takes is a 1 min convo with the media saying "I am staying at Essendon, I am not going anywhere" Thats it.
Maybe EFC and Ryder WANT everyone to think he is leaving for the time being. Everyone will assume there are problems at the EFC as usual and think we won't be able to perform, just sayin'......

Sounds about right how about she gets her family to move down here instead.
Look, none of us know her. We do know she's a young woman raising a young family away from home and family, and she's planning a wedding (ask the ladies in your life about that).

Think it's been easy being one if our players for the last 2 years? It's not just them, their partners and families live it too, the constant media storm and uncertainty.

Now her partners future and her role in it is being discussed ad nauseum in public and in the media.

As EFC supporters I'd prefer we left the private lives and matters of our players to them, leave the uninformed opinion to the campaigners in the media and elsewhere on sites like this.
