If purple had of said Ryder will be leaving on the 3rd of October it would have been a lot more reassuring to me. :D

The last player I was totally gutted on leaving EFC was Gav Wanganeen.

This scenario for Paddy is eerily similar. Partner, family etc.

I believe that Port Adelaide ended up sneaking a McDonalds franchise to Gav's wife to sweeten the deal.

Gav denied the Maccas franchise was part of the deal on Open Mike the other night.

Gav was pretty open about things to, said he pretty much walked out without telling anyone. Doesn't sit well with him to this day.

Love the fact that his heart still at Essendon even though he went to Port for a few years and won a flag there.

If Paddy leaves.. it will purely be for 'family' reasons.. and in that case, I expect the club to be 'understanding'. There is a time and place for being ruthless.. but you also need to be a club too. Again it would only be for the 'right price'.. but if he really wants to leave (or any of our players do) then so be it.

I know that he really does admire and respect Hird (like most of our list).. so hopefully the club is right.. it is just about sorting some stuff out over the post-season.

Ryder really is a key to us winning a Premiership in the next three years..

I notice the club has released a statement from Carlisle saying the rumour about him seeking another club is simply a rumour. Pressure's on Paddy to make a similar statement.
When the media decides that a club or player is required to put a statement out is a sad day. Release no statement. It is the weekend of an elimination final, focus on that. The media should not decide when or who is required to tell them what, and club supporters should expect that.

I agree. The media is what it is though. They'll speculate loudly, especially Caroline Wilson, until they get the statement they're looking for. Like it or not, the pressure will build. Hoping Paddy's immune as a result of the ASADA thing.

I agree with what you're saying, but the idea that the media should decide that there is enough pressure on a club or player to release a statement, which will only be dissected by the media, is a joke. Release nothing. **** them.

i dont see ryder using the get out clause if he wants to leave for family reasons. why would he basically give a massive hit to the club he supposibly loves and also has a "close" relationship to hirdy (who is the central figure in this, like it or not) if its for his missues and not the extra money. He could get a new fresh 5 yr deal for probably a couple hundred thousand a year more, so it would clearly be about money and money only and if he invokes the clause.

so either hopefully we dont lose him, or, we can get a nice trade out of it. he is worth a top 3 pick but i dout we would get it if he wants out. but compensation is better than nothing.

either way ill be cheering for him this weekend every mark he clunks at my first bombers final!!!
GO DONS!!!

And I am criticised for being critical of players who get married/long term girlfriends/babies at an early age - This is what happens folks.
You're pushing this barrow hard yaco, and I struggle to see its relevance to be honest.

Who cares if he was 25 or 35 when the baby was born? If the missus wants to return home, she wants to return home. Age doesn't matter that much in this instance.
