Not do be a downer for you guys but, it doesn't really mean anything. Paddy loves Essendone and it's players: he has been there for a while, l would be surprised if he didn't love them.

He could have come out and said "all this media bs is just that, bs. But he hasn't. The fact that neither he nor the club has said he will not be going is worrying. Brisbane did that with merret.

I rekon it is his wife putting pressure on him to get out. And Brisbane fans don't really care about footy. Thats a big reason as well l rekon.
How farking silly do you feel now?...

The sooner guys realise women are pretty much IN CHARGE OF EVERYTHING WHEN IN A RELATIONSHIP the sooner we can move on from this debacle and end the thread. Gone are the days blokes can go out whenever they like and leave the wife and kids at home without so much as giving a flying fat rats arse. Women be angry nowadays!
Get stuffed.

That is just plain bullshit.

I think Paddy might leave. I don't think the 'delisted free agent' clause will be used by him, or any other player in our lifetime to be honest. It is a remote chance of surviving a legal challenge at best. It is a legal protection for a player and would be more likely invoked if a club told all new recruits they had to jump out of an aeroplane for 'team building'.. and one breaks his leg and can't play for a year.. and when he comes back.. he gets told there is no space but they won't trade him.. and he wants out now.. or some other obscure chance incident.

I see no world in which a guy like Ryder would want to invoke this clause.. his manager is doing his JOB and exploring all the options.. at the end of the day if Paddy leaves it will be for a good trade. Which would suck.. but it happens. If we hadn't had all this ASADA crap.. then it would be a very different slant..

ie.. get used to other clubs trying to poach our talent.. after years of being ignored or irrelevant.. people are finally waking up and thinking.. geez they have some fine players out there at Windy Hill (Tullamarine).. we just have to become more like Sydney.. and make every trade a winner.

Oh come on people, it's for shits and giggles. Way too serious sometimes on here.
I know, but I don't think you realised that you were talking to a woman. Just pointing out the way you were talking could have (and probably did) offend women.

No I didn't & I didn't realise anyone would be offended by it either. It was simply said in jest. Apologies all round in particular to CourtzMajora as you're an awesome poster and it was simply said for a giggle.

Clearly a true relationship is a fair and equitable one between both parties involving compromise, understanding, forgiveness and love.
Being married to a wonderful woman who's given me two beautiful daughters I know this very well and I know also the pain of a major fk up on my behalf.
As does she. :thumbsu:

All good mate, I wasn't offended! I actually laughed at the last line haha but I was just pointing out that you might have been inadvertently crossing the line :)

Peter Gordon gave ASADA a fair old whack on 774 this morning. After doing extensive research in the fields of genetics and genomics over the last 5 years he was shocked that they would make such claims without even contacting any experts in the field to ask about the risks involved. He knows none were consulted as these are people he has been working very closely with due to his work. Said that all the comments did was strike fear into Paddy and hsi family without any professional advice to back it up.

so... about that magical clause Caro. What do the lawyers say?

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...ers-possible-exit-clause-20140904-10clyk.html

Graham Smith, a partner with Clayton Utz, an employment and safety specialist and a former consultant to the AFL Players Association, said there was uncertainty about the retrospective powers of the clause.

"You would have to say there is considerable legal uncertainty about his right to do what is speculated," Smith said on Thursday.

"This new clause only applies from November 1. What it says is that each AFL club must delist a player who has terminated his contract for cause. What that means is that a player would need to terminate the contract on an effectively serious breach of their contract of engagement with the club.

"Now, there is a question immediately whether the clause applies to breaches before November 1, 2014. Is the clause retrospective in its effect?"

Darren Kane, a leading sports lawyer with Colin W Love and Co Lawyers, also said the timing of the clause, given Ryder signed his contract in 2012, meant the star ruckman was no certainty to win his case.

"The [collective bargaining agreement] was updated to include the new provision earlier this year," he said. "In those circumstances, coupled with the fact that the conduct which might be alleged to constitute the breach happened in 2012, it would be hardly straightforward for the player to rely on a clause.

"The wording of the CBA clause, and its import into the playing contract, would have to be explicit if the player wanted to rely on the clause."
