Robbie gray achieved it today, and i thought i'd try and come up with a list of players that have done it. It seems to be a pretty rare acheivement.

Dunstall 29 and 17, buckley 29 and 6, hird 28 and 6 all had games that came close. I'm sure that there must be a lot more that have achieved it though.

At the end of that year Thorne returned to the WAFL again, back to East Perth before transferring to Claremont where he was best on ground in their 1987 Grand Final victory. He won his second Simpson Medal as WA's best player in a 1988 match against the VFA.

In 1997 Thorne became the coach of Subiaco but was fired before the 1999 season.

I'm actually surprised this has been done 58 times. I would have thought it would be a bit more rare.
Six times in the past 20 years leads us to believe it's very rare now. Lot easier to do in the 1960s-1980s.

It's probably happened a few more times before stats were compiled. The prolific Hayden Bunton Senior kicked 6 and 8 goal bags as a rover and Laurie Nash kicked 18 goals for Victoria from CHF.

lethal 4 times in 7 weeks ffs

He's not the player of the 20th Century for nothing.

Barney was on fire towards the end of the 1977 season & was near on unstoppable.....Unfortunately his wayward kicking of 3.6 in the Second
Semi Final versus Collingwood, where we lost by 2 points, cost us the flag that year.....He made up for it in 1978 however.

I quite like Lethals' 11 and 41. FFS 11 goals and 41 possessions. Would love the see a retrospective SC score!

Just to prove it was no fluke, he repeated the dose in 1981; Where he kicked 11.2 from 17 disposals against Melbourne, in round 1 of that season.

Barney was also the last non-forward to win the Coleman back in 1975, when he kicked the measly sum of 68 goals for the season.

Leigh Matthews 7
Kevin Bartlett 3
George Bissett 2
Adrian Gallagher 2
Steve Johnson 2
John F. Murphy 2
Bernie Quinlan 2
Garry Wilson 2

36 players on 1

Just to prove how dominant he actually was; Matthews also had another 4 games of 29 Disposals & 6 goals:

1975....Round 9: 29 Disposals & 6.2 vs Footscray
1976....Round 1: 29 Disposals & 6 Goals vs St.Kilda
1979....Round 5: 29 Disposals & 7.3 vs Richmond
1982....Round 3: 29 Disposals & 6.5 vs Footscray

What rot!

North beat Hawthorn by 11 goals in the preliminary final and red hot "Barney" received the greatest hiding of his career at the hands of Barry Cable.

I'll let you off.

This time.:D

LOL....We actually flogged you blokes in the Qualifying Final the week prior.....Losing to Collingwood was a huge let down & we never recovered....We were tired & there for the taking after that.

P.S I was at both those games, but fortunately missed the Preliminary Final massacre, as I had a 'bad feeling' about it.....I knew we had to beat Collingwood that day to win the flag that year, & it was Barney who blew it for us unfortunately.
