Delisted.

I thought he added something earlier in the year, but unfortunately never really looked to be in the picture once reinforcements arrived from injury.

All the best to him.

Solid enough, but ultimately we don't need a 25 year old who is not in our best 25 players. In particular when we are in rebuild mode and have young defenders in Young (22), Bonar (22), Hayden (22), Bosenavulagi (20), Perez (19), P Walker (19) & Ham (18) (and potentially another draftee this year) that we will want to get games into to see what they've got.

RF08's Season Review

Stat Highlights: Ranked 11th in the comp for effective disposal % per game

Best Game

Round 8 Vs Collingwood - 25 disposals & 6 marks.

Summary

A surprise rookie pick at the end of last year. Despite not playing any football in 2020 due to Covid, Menadue was added to the list to provide some experience and depth on a list that was void of both of those things. After a solid pre-season Menadue found himself in the round 1 side. Despite a decent game he found himself in the VFL until he was recalled in round 6. He played from round 6 to round 11, with a couple of those games as the medi sub. He had a couple of decent games across half back particularly against Collingwood and Essendon. He was reliable by foot and provided some decent one on one marking. However, we really didn't witness him utilise his speed and line breaking/long kicking ability, far too often taking the less risky short kick. After round 11, Menadue was dropped from the senior side and failed to regain his spot again for the rest of the season. He played some decent footy across half forward in the VFL, prior to the season being canned due to covid. Despite a decent debut season, Menadue fell down the pecking order and was subsequently delisted at the end of the season. Best of luck in the future Connor.

The handling of Menadue shows that we are on the right path from a list management perspective IMO.

Brought in with a low risk late rookie pick because he has attributes we want - Pace & Skill.

Recognised it's not going to work, band aid is pulled off quickly & we go again.

Fail quickly. Adjust. Go again.

I'm sorry it didn't happen for him, he seemed pretty excited to get the opportunity and had attributes we needed.

But spot on with what you say it caught my eye too that we acted so quickly.

We had so many guys in the 2010-20 period that seemed to be neither here nor there but be kept around for a few years then get delisted without a trace.
