He busted some important packs after a shaky start, but I want more.
Same goes for Drew.
Drew had twice the game that Hales had.

Drew at least provides defensive pressure and competes when the ball hits the deck.

You just don't see that from Hales and that makes me sad.:(

Fact is that Hales was shit once again.

Not good enough when you consider once upon a time, in a far away place known as Baked Potatoe Stadium, he kicked 8 against the same mob. :stern look

But yeah it is fair to say that Drew can also play better then he did today.

Fair Call Zebs.:thumbsu:

Some ordinary stuff in this thread.

Hale is still a quality ruck option regardless of how his forward play pans out.
He will be handy to have in case one of McIntosh or Goldy get injured, but if he isn't leading out like a real forward by the end of the pre-season then I don't want him up forward. :p

I have no problem with shelving the Hale as a forward project if he doesn't click in the next 10-15 games.

That still doesn't mean that he isn't a good solid ruck option.

Hales clicked only twice last season as a forward option. I can't believe that you would invest another 10 to 15 games of Hales in the forward line again this season if he was to stink it up the same way he did last year. I say give him 2 games max at the start of the season when Petrie is out, if he hasn't clicked by then he should be dropped to the VFL and learn to how to click. :stern look

He needs to be given a decent crack under a coach that exhibits a skerrick of an attacking game plan.

Be fair Zondor.:thumbsu:
Fair?

No, he needs to pull his finger out and start smashing packs. Start leading as hard as he can up the ground and taking grabs. Presenting like Petrie does. I don't think I'm asking for much.

His form thus far in the 2 matches I've seen him play has been very ordinary and by all accounts he was shithouse in the first intra club game we played. Click, Click, Click. :stern look

Scott better not fall into the same trap as Laidleys and "Hope" he'll come good. If he isn't playing well then drop him I say. Giving him 10 to 15 games in the "Hope" he'll come good is horseshit. Play guys who are in form. Who deserve to be there. If someone is out of form then change it around. Play Josh Smith, try Tarrant, but don't HOPE that Hales will come good.

Couldn't agree more. He's been total Shite for a long while now (Hair Period????) & watching on Sunday, the Boys tried to bring him into it, to our Detriment, & he let them down abysmally! Put people out there who truly DESERVE to be out there. Cheers

GC giving up draft picks would be like someone winning a million bucks and buying a caravan and living in the Mt Isa caravan park, you wouldn't do it.

The gold coast have to give up picks. They can not draft 30 18 year olds. They need mature bodies for next year - and a mature ruckman will be at the top of the list. Any 18 year old ruckman drafted this year cannot compete against the monsters like Sandi, Hamish and Cox. They will get smashed.

I for 1 was happy signed until the end of next year - he is a gold coast boy and could have gone their for no return at the end of this year. If he has a good year his stocks go up and we get a decent pick for him. I would give him every opportunity this year.

Theo X was asked for his assessment of Hales this arvo on SEN, by Robbo, and he said something I hadn't considered....... "The problem Hale has is that he's just not working hard enough. There's no point in presenting if you do so in a half hearted manner, leaving an opponent all over you. He should be working his opponents over and attacking the mark like his life depends on the result. I'm not seeing it, and haven't for awhile".
