Week = long time in football.

For the record, I've been one of Hale's biggest defenders, and still think his lack of goals is more to do with the rest of his team, his coach, and the umpires.

But now I think it is time to accept that these factors which are leading to his lack of effectiveness are not likely to disappear -- his team will continue to kick poorly I50, his coach will continue to flood his own forwardline, and the umps will continue to miss the blatant arm chops.

Given this, it is time for Josh Smith to get a gig in the 1's and Goldy to have a stint back in the magoos.

Hale is a sook!

Drops his head and doesn't compete hard enough when things don't go his way. Needs to take a leaf out of Drew's book and give 100% even when things aren't going well.

Hale is turning into a very good downhill skier.

I'd like The Zebra aka Mr Know it All to explain himself. Another rot game by Hales makes it 8 bad games in 10. Surely the time has come to drop this guy. Surely.

But that good game from Hales against Freo means he'll survive for another 4 games.:thumbsu:

All because to justify the fact that we have signed Hales til 2069.

More like another 4 years.

By my count he's played two above average games in the past two years. "Quick! Sign him up FOREVER".

If we didn't sign him up just so we can bargain with the GC when they want to take him...

He was sit. He still kicked 2. The same as Brown and more than Bradshaw.

Dropping him was a dumb idea, and still remains one.:thumbsu:

Why would they be busting a gut to get him?

At the start of last year he was going to be our gun CHF.

This year he is going to be our gun FF.

Working a treat so far. :thumbsu: Hale will not be a gun anything until he works harder. When he can walk off the track and say, I have worked non stop, I have given it everything I have got, I have played a smart game and I have made the most of my opportunities. When Hale can do that, we may be onto something. I no longer want to hear about delivery and midfield problems in regards to Hale, not until he can tick those boxes consistently.

Absolute bullshit.

He was great last year, including his last 4 games where he was best on vs Carlton, followed by best on vs Geelong, followed by best on vs Port on a terrible day and was good in the final vs Sydney.

He was 4th in the Syd Barker last year and 3rd in the bigfooty medal.

To be fair, he was good in the last half of last year. The start of last year saw him stinking it up accross the half forward line. We persisted with that until he injured himself. When he came back, there was a change which produced better results.

Take out his 8 goal haul in Geelong from last year and he still only kicked 30 or so from playing up forward the entire year. Meh.

His last half was great, not good.

He started off badly, but he was only injured after round 3, and when he came back his form improved. Wasn't as consistent as he was in the second half of the year, but still had some very big games including a match winning game against West Coast and a great game where he stood up and kept us in it against Sydney.

C'mon mate. Say it. I know it is hard for you to admit. He was SHIT. Like terrible. Like Garbage.

Like I mentioned in another thread Hales hadn't touched himself let alone the football until just before half time. That just aint on.

That makes 8 rubbish games out of 10. Are you happy with that?

As for trying to compare Brown and Bradshaw to Hales you are ****ing kidding right?

I say drop Hales. He needs to understand that his form just aint on. I'm sure that Laidleys would have already had a chat to him. Maybe some time in the VFL might get that message thru.

Hale has to go as we need more mobile options in our forward line.
Swap him for jones.

Have petrie playinf from the gola square or about 20 metres out, then have jones, edwards and warren as our HF line as lead up targets with flash crumbing.

That sounds like they way to go cause when the ball hits the ground now it just gets taken out so easily.

Plus drop Thomas for the cruize ship

Isn't the Gola Square somewhere in the middle east?

I know dude. But hes the future. Weve signed him forever so do we persist.
Would like it if someone can post that Hale and Hearty article from a week back:thumbsdown:
I noticed that too when he took his first mark first kick and first goal before halftime.

I'll tell you somefing tazaa. David Hales showed in the second half of the year that he can play good football. He looked like being a big part of our future. Finally he had come good.

But gee this season has been a big disappointment thus far. You just can't keep rewarding a guy with senior games when he is stinking up the place. The same applies with Thomas. The player group needs to be sent the message that if you're struggling you're out. I'll say it again, If you're out of form then you're out. Great for it to apply to Jones and Harris but lets be fair. It should apply to everybody.

Lets see how Josh Smith goes on his own as the key forward for the next few weeks. He should come in for Hales. He may very well be part of that future you are talking about.

Allow David Hales to go back to the 2's and get some form back. Hales has shown snippets with 2 good games this season but simply put this aint good enough. Send him that message by sending him to the VFL.

Surely even The Zebras can understand this line of thinking? Surely?

His last half was good, not great. Not unless you happen to set the bar pretty low. I would have expected more the 50 goals from a "great" full forward. He had some good games, but you don't build a career on some good games. You have to consistently play good games. I don't need great from him, I need good, consistently.

Just to enlighten you Roo-View, The Zebra once upon a time thought that Daniel McConnells was a potential top 50 player in the AFL and was gonna be the find of 2007. Learn what ever lesson you want to learn from that.

And when I tried telling him that McConnells was a wasted pick up and wasn't much chop as an AFL Footballer he gots upset.

Now people are trying to point out the obvious about Hales current poor form and he doesn't want a bar of it. Play Hales he says. That's just great. Forget about the fact that for 8 out of 10 games he has stunk up the forward line. Just play him. She'll be right. He'll come good one day cause, yep, you guessed it, BIG MEN TAKE TIME.
