I'll tell you somefing tazaa. David Hales showed in the second half of the year that he can play good football. He looked like being a big part of our future. Finally he had come good.

But gee this season has been a big disappointment thus far. You just can't keep rewarding a guy with senior games when he is stinking up the place. The same applies with Thomas. The player group needs to be sent the message that if you're struggling you're out. I'll say it again, If you're out of form then you're out. Great for it to apply to Jones and Harris but lets be fair. It should apply to everybody.

Lets see how Josh Smith goes on his own as the key forward for the next few weeks. He should come in for Hales. He may very well be part of that future you are talking about.

Allow David Hales to go back to the 2's and get some form back. Hales has shown snippets with 2 good games this season but simply put this aint good enough. Send him that message by sending him to the VFL.

Surely even The Zebras can understand this line of thinking? Surely?
I think Haley is struggling with the extra attention hes getting now that he is the main target for us inside 50.. thats y warren kicked 4.. Like haley kicked 5 last week but at the ground it was nothin special but to be expected.. what else do u expect from your ff.. but i think cozz weve signed him up how stupid will it look if we drop him.. josh smith at ff does not look lke a genuine spearhead for the fact hes always played half forward.. and if he does come in god forbid how the kid will cope with the delivery hell get.. hell get koed..
i dont know dude.. honestly anyone thats gonna play fullforward is gonna suck.. our best kicks arent even in the midfield atm.. wells plays his best footy across halfback.. jws is injured.. spud runs off halfback too.. urq aswell.. ross is only a kid.. ziebell was in defence yesterday.. boomer is out.. campbell is out.. and mcmahon is operating in a back pocket.. plus our most promising recruit anthony is getting match fitness..
North well persist and with hopefully better performances next week it become reoccurring..

He wont score a lot of goals if we crab around the midfield. If we go direct he has a chance in a one-on-one battle. We are making it hard for him, in the games we have moved it well down the corridor he has returned a decent number of goals.

The thing with our forward line setup is that the players do not know how to function together by leaving space and leading out of the fifty. The only way a setup will work for us is with one focal point. Which is Hale. However we are screwin ourselves over because Hale is not yet a dominant enough figure in the 50 to tell players such as Thomas and Edwards to leave space for him so he cand DEMAND the ball. In 2007 it was CJ who we looked for but CJ had the experience and voice to be dangerous upfront. CJ hasnt got age on his side which is why weve abandoned that approach, while Haley is still young. David needs to be selfish and not just stand in the square like a useless stepladder. You look back on the weekend in the final quarter where we could not hit a target and just blazed away. Thomas, Edwards and Hale were just leading into eachothers space drawing their man with them which is why it looked like an almighty flood was happening. And the Lions knew we would always go to David, double team him and take an easy mark. You cant blame our mids for this as were without probably our 3 best ball users atm in JWS Boomer and Anthony. Bewick as forward line coach has got to cop some sort of criticism as we are 15th in the league for points scored. FE play the kids but play the kids and were still not scoring. Hopefully Rock can provide us with some insight into the saints this week that we will use, as he did take their midfield to 4th last year.

It's not his lack of goals that shits me about Hale, but rather the fact that unless the ball is lace out he just won't compete.

Lost count of the amount of times the opposition takes an easy mark in Hale's area. Carey was a champion not because he took the mark everytime, but because if he didn't he gave a contest and got the ball to ground level. He hardly ever let his opponent beat him even if it was 2 on one.

nah mate david hale is flying at the moment
glad we signed him up for another 50 years
Exactly. A 50 year contract tells the likes of Caroline Wilsons and Patrick Smiths and them other blokes that the NMFC is here to stay long term.:thumbsu:

I am beginning to suspect his real name is Leigh Brown the Second.

Popus up once a year, kicks 8, then proceeds to put on the softest display you could hope to see, from an opposition POV.

By Round 15, I expect the tally to read: 3/15, to which Hale will play out the season before a big 8 goal game to end the season, with the final tally reading...

4/22

Even the MMM commentators, who have previously praised him, were calling him soft too often.

To quote Spud Frawley : "He barely gets touched and goes to ground. He can't do that. Completely useless"

4 year contract or not, hes our FF he just doesnt demand the ball or control the forward line. CJ to come back at FF and Haley to work out if he likes to play football or not -at the VFL.

Surely Dean Laidleys being the Brainiac and Super Coach that he is will drop Hales for yet another shithouse performance. Surely.
