GoNorth - he's had at least 4 of them.

He won't be dropped unfortunately. Just heard Crock saying that he thinks Buddy has a break out game right around the corner.

Lets face facts.

Hales was shit once again today.

And it really is starting to piss me off that this clown gets game after game when he puts in shitful performance after shitful performance.

Very bizarre this whole Hale thing. It's the eqiuivalent of being back in the 90's and trying to isolate Matty Capuano as our sole key forward option.

They seem remarkably similar players to me.

Given how we moved the ball today I was disappointed with his leading and presentation, we sadly missed Warren out there, he would have had a field day if he lasted more than 3 minutes.

The biggest disappointment was him being out makred by guys 10cm shorter, I think at worst he is there to make a contest and bring the ball to ground.

Mind you, there were some players with the blinkers on today, Urquhart blew off people in better positions 2 or 3 times and blazed away and got bananas. For a talented kick he is a shocking shot at goal.

Had we had more polish, made fewer blues and done more team things like going for goal assists then we would have been in a better position to win. Warren going down really hurt our chances.

For christ sake give him a break every freaking game no matter what the hell he does, what position he plays he gets the shit bagged out of him. Even when he kicks 5 ****ing goals. I agree he hasnt had a great season but he got knocked out badly so he is most like unconciously worried about it happening again, try being a true supporter and get behind your team and by that i mean all of the players insteady of bitching and bagging them!!!
Fair go, I didn't slag him off after that 5 goal game, he actually played well that game. I think the concussion has had a psychological effect on him contesting the footy for fear of being that badly injured. But I think after 12 rounds its fair to say that he has been poor, and with guys like Josh Smith and Wundke kicking 3 or more goals consistently in the twos, it is worth giving them a go because they are in form. The club should hold high standards, and play players on form. I'm sure Hale will be back next year in good form, but I think it might do him good to go back to the twos. Either bring in Josh Smith or Wundke and drop Hale or give him a run solely in the ruck to get some form and confidence back.

Wundke should be played at FF. I can picture Bolton and RobertsT running off Haley and dominating next week:thumbsdown:
Bring him back when his confidence grows. Weve been waiting 3 months for him to click. Give another kid a go

He was struggling before he got knocked out, infact played a good game the week after it happened, so I'd say your drawing a long bow there, unless your related to him in some way?

UPDATE: Who knows? And to be perfectly honest, who cares? Time he was dropped & either Goldstein or Josh Smith given a crack. 2 good games out of 12 doesn't cut the mustard for me. Zebs, your thoughts?

Re: David hale

If we lose Hale then we lose one of the backup ruckman, I can't see us dropping Hale unless we bring in Goldstein. We are playing one ruckman short as it is and I think it cost us a bit in the last quarter when McIntosh tired.

If we were playing for finals I would be all for dropping him for someone in better VFL form.

I think the rest of this season is more about getting the structure right and developing some guys for 2010 and beyond. I still think Smith and Wundke need a fair bit more development, kicking goals in the VFL is one thing but ask Edwards what it is like going from a 100+ goal forward to AFL level, there is a massive difference.

I think Hale just needs to work a lot more with the new style of play and need to iron out his presenting and work on his ability for him to be able to read when our players will deliver the ball and for them to be able to recognise where he is leading, some passes to Hale went 2 or 3 meters over his head of dropped 10m short. There is work needed on both sides of the fence. I just don't think we will make those in-roads if he is playing in the VFL.

Re: David hale

I have mightily pissed off with Hale, but give him a few weeks with this attacking style.

He has looked soft and uninterested all year, but Laidley's plan didnt help him.
I agree on Laidley's gameplan but dunno if he is going to magically turn it around. I was only watching on TV but on every lead he seemed to have defenders right on him - never seems to find space at the moment. Assuming either of Smith or Wunke have been in good form I would drop Hale to find touch in the magoos, and let the younger players have a crack out of the square.

Re: David hale

To those of you that are getting stuck into Hale, have a look at the replay from yesterdays game and tell me how many times the ball was kicked to him to his advantage. I counted 2! One of them he marked and goaled, the other he dropped a mark that he would have taken last year.

I'm not potting any of our forwards whilst our delivery is so sh1tful.

Re: David hale

I already started a thread on this one. Should be either dropped for Josh Smith or Wundke to find form in twos or played soley in the ruck to get some confidence back, with Josh Smith or Wundke as forward replacement. The concussion has obviously affected his attack on the ball.

agreed but his work rate off the ball was disgracefull i was sitting at the end to the right of the bulldogs cheer squad and your right not enough balls came to him but he needs to work alot harder if he is going to kick us enough goals

Re: David hale

He should be bundled up in a nice ribbon and exchanged to the new gold coast team for one of their valuable first round picks.
I have been a big wrap for him in the past but I don't think that he is in our best team on what he has shown this year, time to say thanks for the contribution and move on.

Re: David hale

He was woeful yesterday, like a big anchor weighing down the whole team.
His running style mimicked the million or so seagulls around the ground. Why does he run flapping his arms like a bird?
But, according to Crocker a good performance is just around the corner, so we have to wait and see.
