Pardon the intrusion, but thought I'd share a quick cut up video of the Goat in action for Country v Metro.
I made the vid as his athleticism stood out, and I thought the Hawks might trade up into the teens to get someone like Goater or Sonsie (who of course, then slid into the 20's).

I think he's a steal at pick 22, and his clean hands and jet-speed on the outside will compliment the likes of Phillips, Simpkin and Powell.
Does get a bit excited and butchers it when he puts on the after-burners, but pretty sure I read somewhere that his disposal efficiency is generally very high (so probably no great issue when he takes his time).

Anyway, its draft week, so everybody wins (except for Gold Coast, who can turn just about anyone into dogsh*t).

Pick 22 🤣

I read somewhere that his kicking out of defence is pretty good. His kicking efficiency drops when he is in the middle. That suggests it’s his decision making in the middle more than technique. That can be fixed.
Sometimes time dictates your ability to think. (Unless your Tommy Powell of course ) in that highlights video some of his hurried kicks fwd from centre are good options. Tend to like that he keeps em low rather than hacking ziebel style in those circumstances. Lot more probability of forcing a stoppage further fwd than having an intercept mark picked off.

The Anti Atley:

- Has off the chart speed and actually knows how to utilize it consistently in game

- Has great agility in congestion and knows how to use his speed to get out of it

- accumulates at will and regularly has repeat possessions in chains

Athleticism and ability to win the ball and evasiveness looks elite. Kicking on the other hand looked ordinary at best, hopefully he can clean that up. Decision making seemed sound. I worry when combine average decision making with suspect kicking.
Let’s hope he develops well and plays plenty of footy for the club

Will be a weapon if he cleans up the kicking.

Right.

Crazy ball under the arm athletic running style.

Off the charts agility and leap.

Grabs the ball in one hand.

Anthony Koutafides.
I’ve always thought he plays and moves a lot like Jared Brennan.

You guys should be absolutely thrilled to get him where you did. For his height he’s just a great athlete with terrific acceleration but also one of those guys who is a fairly natural finder of the ball. Similar to your man Souup I had him ranked very highly and I think in the future a few clubs will regret not picking him in the teens.

Technically good kick, currently lacks endurance so generally he will break through a contest and break away and then miss a target but from the games Ive watched this only is really a problem when he’s in the midfield and not really off half back, and the misses are generally trying to pull off a hard kick and darting it and it drops short, rather than a dangerfield-esque bomb out of a contest. Once he gets his tank up and gets into an AFL system his kicking should be fine, if not even an asset.

The footage I've seen is him kicking in front of his team members while they're on the run so they can keep moving not smack into the chest where the ball would have slowed them down.

The more vision I see of the Goat the more I think the wing will suit him to a tee.

Goat-Tee if you will..

I tend to picture him running off half back, but I can definitely see him on a wing. I guess our desperate need for a running half back see’s him more likely to play that role.

For those in the know, what is his endurance like and is two way running something he can provide? I can see him possibly being our Ed Langdon down the track. Both Langdon and Brayshaw on each wing this year providing run both ways was incredibly underrated.

Endurance was noted as a weakness.

Breaking tackles and moving through congestion seem to be two of his greatest strengths so midfield and half-back seem like his best positions to me.

I know we have a lot of mids already but I see Clayton Oliver like potential as an untackleable clearance mid.

I noticed this too, he does appear to pull up and off them at the point of contact rather than really getting his weight forward and through the ball.
Yep …. I was not going to say anything because I thought it was me being over critical but this stood out like dogs balls from his first clip highlights reel . He almost looks like he pushes with both hands when hand balling .
I’ve never seen anything like this with the exception of young kids at OzKick .
Strange one that … I still think he’s a great pick up & potential future gun player for us . Let’s hope he’s handballing technique gets corrected swiftly.
