Mrs HB works with a lady who knows The Goaters very well and she spoke to Mrs Goater and they were guaranteed he would go on the first night to Freo. They were shocked when it didn't happen but elated in the end obviously.

Goes to show what a scum bag Peter Bell has become.

Happy he came to North but weird Freo were looking at more HBF types considering is not a position of need and they just got Jordan Clark.
Guess when Johnson became available they changed their plans.
Seemed to have just drafted local talent as everyone from VIC wants to go home.

Yeh I'm not sure what happened but it was said that it was a guarantee. To the point on day 1 of the draft he has started to organise packing.

Footballs getting more and more professional at junior level.
You always hear on the radio how surprised the commentators are with the way the kids speak during interviews etc.
It can be the difference between a career in the AFL and not.
Just waiting for the SC programs to catch up too, seems like a few clubs/leagues are already doing it.

No one expected Johnson to slide like he did, and in a year like this where juniors has been so limited it shouldn't be surprising that different recruiting teams have radically different ideas of who's the best at any given pick. Supposedly we were committed to Motlop, but just like with Freo and Goater, plans change. Let's just be glad they did and we got a gun who's also a lifelong shinboner.

The top 12 went exactly to plan! They gave the kid a guarantee when they were never going to pick him. There was no surprise, Freo knew who would be available at their pick, to guarantee a kid they would pick him up and not go back to him and tell him its not going to happen is just s**t. Freo as a club are full of a bunch of w***ers. The fact they brought Murphy in with no experience proves this.

Was happy to go anywhere and play but obviously staying and getting to us was the ultimate result. They didn’t think it was a chance at all.

Limitless potential.

When this kid is 90kg+ (which he will be with his body shape and height), he's going to be an unstoppable weapon capable of playing multiple positions.

There needs to be a category above "elite" athleticism for him.

Athletically he looks pretty damn good. Skills a little scratchy, with his handballing a wee bit wtf at times. It certainly feels like he will adapt to the pace of AFL level pretty quickly.
