Corey seems like a nice kid and I really hope he makes it. Personally I'm not sure he will. One of things I like to see in developing young players is them improve on the areas they might not be naturally good at. He seems to have good disposal at times, but nothing like the 'silk' that was spoken about. He's not quick and seems to lack intensity at times. Might not necessarily be his fault, there's many players out there and over the years the same where they just don't quite have that intense competitive instinct and it's not uncommon in players who through their junior years have been able to get by on sheer skill and ability at that level alone (I have no idea if this is representative of him at junior level, but it's not uncommon), but when it comes game day and live or die on the field, they can't quite get to the level required.
One area I always look at from a development point is, have the club given the player enough blocks of games in a row to get accustomed to the pace & intensity of the game ? Corey can't complain in this regard, out of his 23 games to the end of last year he was given blocks of 4, 8, 3 (only one game between the 8 and 3 missed), 2 & 4. He hasn't been in one week out the next.
I have a rule of throwing out the form book for round 1, just want the 4 points and no injuries and I'm happy to see him get a few more games while we have injuries, but unless he starts to show that he deserves to be in the 22, then I think it's back to the VFL and completely dominate there before he gets another chance
