Senior 32.- Gryan Miers (2018-)

I worked with Dave for several years. A more practical and down to earth bloke, and anyone less like a "mad scientist", you are unlikely to meet;
Counterpoint: called his kid ‘Gryan’

Perhaps later, but Chappy was much smaller when first drafted.

Was this Chappy when drafted?!

Looked built like a brick shed already?! And much like a 30 year old man as opposed to a kid.

I think he plays round 1. He's small, he's slow but at some point you have to ignore that and think he's a darn good footballer.

He’s in my round one team if he performs in the pre season. Don’t have a ton of goal kicking small forwards competing against him.

When was the last time we had a draft where if serious all of our draftees could honestly make the best 22 round 1

2001 - Bartel, Ablett, Kelly and SJ all debuted pretty early from memory. Bartel and Ablett round 1 against the Bombers I think.

Very good jester.

Did you hear Gryan explain how he came to get his name? Parents liked the name 'Ryan' but his Dad wanted to make it a bit different, so added the 'G'.

Whereas Miers is yet to develop. Miers was born in 1999, the year Chappy was drafted to Geelong.

Miers is 18, 178cm, 77kg
Chapman from Wikipedia is 36, 179cm, 87kg - 82kg when drafted at 18 in 1999 - so had five kilos on Miers.

Here we go, some promise of Deltoids to come ;)

It's in the thigh department where the huge difference is between them.

I was going to say it looks like Wells has joined in the celebration.

I was going to say his Dad looks like Laurie Laurence.

Selwood needs to pass the mantle onto someone.

Hopefully he gets lots of head high free kicks
How about bleeds like Selwood too?

What is a Geelong game without Selwood's head bandaged lol

Obviously, without the potential damage to his brain!

This guy is going to make it IMO.

A top 20 calibre pick at 57 is incredible.

I've really liked him this last season and wanted him on our list.

He's not a bad athlete at all, he plays smart and not with overt athleticism, which may translate to a lack of a faith in his physical profile by some.

He's a committed run and chase player and he should have the speed (and agility) to fulfill this role at AFL level.

His body control and coordination are elite.

Kind of like Parfitt in terms of his ability to 'walk' through a pack.

The Dalhaus comp has nothing to do with the dreads, they are strikingly similar players and project to play a similar role.

They are both grimy defensive forwards who can kick goals.

However, Gryan is the much more natural player and reminds me of Milne honestly.

Skilled, defensive goalkicker.

Prefer him to Kelly to be honest.

Who's the guy with the navy + white mohawk? Love that he's right into the spirit of Miers joining Geelong.

They would have been pretty nervous getting to the mid 50s and not being picked and then they got the best case scenario staying at home in Geelong.
