So close yet so far with Mason.

I don’t understand how such a good field kick can be so bad in front of goal. Needs to relax. His kicking style goes to sh*t when he has a set shot.

He deserves to be playing AFL footy, but I’m unsure if it’s at North.

I don't agree about his field kicking. Missed easy targets again last night. When you get as little of the ball as he gets you must hit your targets

After so many years on our list i am not sure he deserves to be playing AFL.

I remember a senior player telling me about four years ago that he was about to be the next big thing and would be regarded as North's best player by end of that season.
Remarkable how this has panned out.
Sad too.

Was this in early 2016, or even earlier? Before he landed on his head after flying over a pack.

We have Taylor, Zurhaar and Ziebell. I’d like to keep Garner, he would be a very damaging player if he ever got fully fit.

You can add TT to that, its just Ziebell isnt quick, Zurhaar goes missing or doesn't show up until about the 3rd qrt lately. We really need one genuine medium forward specialist who can mark. I'm looking at Taylor, but since he's injury its been quite down there

If anyone watches the replay can you tell me whether his first step when taking a set shot is a left or a right step. I could be mistaken, but I thought I saw both in his 3 (?) set shots. Confused mind, if so.
Not totally related but I reckon when he takes a mark he often skips/walks back looking as though he is a right footer. Seldom moves quickly to an arc on his left.

Maybe if garner didnt spend the majority of the year in rehab he'd have a chance but 40 games in 9 years isnt good enough to stay on the list moving forward. Will be easy enough to pick up a player to replace him

We have enough players for flanker roles.

We need a better, faster and more versatile midfield and fast. We have some building blocks already but need more.

I'm sure our approach will be that way.

Wouldnt get a gig at majoirty of other clubs and that reason alone is why we should delist him. North fans too sentimental about players we've keep on our list, even when they are underperforming and useless on field.
You whack a NM jumper on Tattoo from Fantasy Island and suddenly he'd be the answer to our small forward issues on here.

The knock on Tattoo is that he tends to lose concentration - spends a lot of time looking up into the sky and pointing.
Probably played junior footy with Winston 🙃

He was never the same after he was injured taking a hanger several years ago.

Can not remember the game, came back timid compared to what he was.

My opinion hasn't changed. IMO the last 2 games we're seeing more of his natural abilities, but it's also plain as day that he's alternating between trying too hard and being completely uncertain about what he should do. He's mentally shot right now, and I can't see a future with us where he recovers and finds genuine form. He still has all, or most, of the tools he used to and I suspect another club will take a punt on him and if they do I would not be at all surprised to see him forge a genuine career for himself still. He has 'needs a fresh start' written all over him.

Definitely down on confidence and looks like a player who knows he is in the way out. But has he finally got his body right? In a season full of injuries to our list he has managed to stay healthy and on the park.
