16 career games for 225 disposals, 70 marks of which 30 are contested, 16 goals, 15 behinds and a lazy 41 tackles with an average of 74% game time. Adding all that up suggests to me we've a likely A-Grader on our hands.
I hope your right that he'll become an A-Grader, hell I want him to be a superstar. Hopefully you or someone will bump this thread one day and tell me how wrong I was.

No probs I don't forget :p

He has the skill, desire, is super confident, the internal knock early was the lack of defensive pressure, he's improved immensely in that regard. Has the footy world at his feet.

It is easily forgotten that Wood was being recognised as one of the hottest young players going round when he got hit by injury. At the same time, the injury might have helped push through the contract negotiations for us by taking attention away from him, so there might have been a silver lining in that. The most noticeable thing was that he looked assured in all parts of his game after getting a run of quality games under his belt. Could see the same happening with Daw towards the end of the season. If Wood and Daw can pick up where they left off, we will have plenty to enjoy in 2017.

When I read that Mason has only played 16 games, and the trio of BBB, Wood, and Daw haven't even clocked up 100 games between them, can understand why Waite was resigned for another year. But the games tally doesnt account for their solid apprenticeships and that they have actually played a lot of footy together. Really looking forward to the Brown Wood Daw combination in action and reckon they might surprise a few next year. And kudos to the club for organically developing a 2nd rounder, a 3rd rounder, and a rookie into our next gen forward line.

If he hadn't have been injured he would have played every game since he came into the side and probably would have ended up with 25+ goals.

Expecting big things next year.

Yeah for all the talk about shit development that trio looks ok- possibly looks like a premiership winning forward line? It'lll have to if they wanna win one.

Less funny when you know that dropping Boomer IS what caused people to drop their memberships ...

"Every party needs a pooper that's why they invited me ..."
Those "people " simply needed an excuse, and we sure gave them one.

I'm sure they're donating those few hundred bucks to Scientology or their local pokie joint as we speak.

It was just a very emotional time, they are highly passionate supporters who struggled to see the forest from the trees.

I have faith that they will sign back up once they see the new generation in action, with players like Mason looking like the second coming (giggity) of Carey.

Thread back on track... Mods, I'll have a fruit basket please.

We probably need 100+ goals between BBB, Wood & Daw next year. Hopefully with all of them playing 15+ games.

Hope I am wrong but fear he may be a bit injury prone
I wouldn't worry - mostly minor injuries, and those knee injuries haven't required reconstructions and the like.

2013 - had a very minor calf injury
2013 - crack in his knee identified so they screwed it (likely caused from growing up, but was a significant crack).
2016 - knocked himself out marking
2016 - torn knee ligaments

The crack might of turned out bad if left, but they have screwed it in place and he hasnt had any trouble from it.

His knee ligament injury is OK (unrelated to the crack) - He has now had loads and loads of rehab instead of being played, so best possible result for his healing process.

People forget how good Carey was if they think Wood is going to be anything near him. How old is Wood? Pretty sure by his age Carey was Captain and in the top 5 players in the comp. That comp included Dunstal, Lockett, Ablett, R.Harvey, Kernahan etc.

Wood looks the goods but Carey was incredible.

By 23, he had kicked 6 goals in a prelim. And had 24 touches and 14 marks.

He could play.

He'd also played 100 games. *Edit - 98*

But I agree, while there is a lot to like from wood, a LOT, and we can say he has a little bit of Carey in him, there is just no comparing him outright.

Its not even really fair on wood. Carey was the king.

Not sure I get where you're going there.

Should we have foreseen Jesse's injuries?

Should we have not talked him up?

Kid was a freak. Absolute jet of a footballer. Of course we should have.

But then shit happened. Shit that doesn't parallel the situation with Mason. And so life carries on.

Pretty different situation though. The not to be mentioned one wasn't injury prone.

Yep. Also, can we please not mention the frigging war.
