He needs to go now. We're losing the ruck battle so bad. No marks in the defensive 50 to assist the backline. No marks down the line as the outlet. Only 1 tackle as a ruckman. ONLY 3 pressure acts. 4 free against because he has no ruck craft. He's the Don's 19th man on the field.

I know Supercoach points isn’t for everyone and something to be mindful of. However, Ryan had 45 SC, Goldy had 109.

I respect the hell out of Goldy, but if Ryan is still not ready to beat a 36yo third choice ruckman he’ll never be at the level.

i know rucks can come on late in their careers but generally they show something up to that point, its usually a physical size thing they need to add. ryan needs to add talent and basic skills like marking, thats not coming out of nowhere in his late twenties.

Ryan wasn't hugely outbodied. Which is a first.

I thought he wasn't poor, just competed. I guess a meh player.

Not sure how he got 3 years. But he fills the Nank is out hole not terribly - not well though. Just meh.

What were they half way through the 2nd I wonder. He started ok I thought, gave away a few frees in the 2nd and completely dropped his bundle as usual.

All you need to. know ...
Todd Goldstein recorded a game-high eight clearances and nine score involvements.

His tap work actually offers something different for us when he gets his hand to it. Unfortunately I reckon my grandad could nudge him in the hip and win the tap 9 times out of 10.

Need to look elsewhere post Nank.

I thought he did okay...

He was okay against a ruck that you should be well better than okay against.

Tap work is actually a plus, but he doesn’t have an AFL level attribute to see him get on top of rucks to get the tap as he should.

Not strong enough to out body. Not athletic enough to out athlete. Not smart enough to get into a good position (stop giving Goldy front position).

Probably not worth going after a secondary ruck until Nank retires, but Ryan not the answer.

The fact that he has been on our list for the last 2 seasons, let alone the contract extension, has been a real blight on our list management team. Having both he and Mate Colina on the list is doubly bad. The LMT have put all their eggs in the Samson Ryan basket, and sadly the eggs are scrambled (or fried, take your pick). We should have been targeting a big bodied actual ruckman years ago to take some of the pressure off big Nank. Nank, the poor bastard, has had to shoulder the ruck burden on his own for years.

My worry from last night was the distinct lack of follow up immediately after the ruck contest

He’d contest the tap and then just stand and watch. Can’t do that at AFL level

People need to remember he's played 25 AFL games, and this was only his 2nd or 3rd game as the sides number one ruckman. Yes he was beaten by a 36 year old Goldstein, who was once the best ruckman in the comp and probably the best and most consistent ruckman the bombers have still. Samson wasn't great last night but he wasn't as bad as half the drama queens in here would have you believe. If it wasn't Ryan, it would of been hayes-brown and that would of been a lot worse
