My worry from last night was the distinct lack of follow up immediately after the ruck contest

He’d contest the tap and then just stand and watch. Can’t do that at AFL level

No tank,
No vertical leap,
zero athleticism.
Will never have the tools to be an AFL ruckman.

His first quarter and a bit was a pass mark.

Then he reverted back to his usual self at the afl level - non competitiveness, spectating contests etc etc.

At the afl level he is only barely a pass mark as a relief ruck, but then when rested forward or elsewhere he is a liability. Sims and Blight do the same job as a relief ruck but are effective around the ground.

He gave up when he gave away 2 quick frees. Completely quit mentally.

Agree
Thought he was alright up to half time, got beaten a few times and the odd free but just seemed like he was played by the much more experienced Goldstein who knows how to milk a free from someone inexperienced so wasn’t overly fussed

But that 2nd half was super puss

Before this he led hitouts 13-6 half way through 2nd, gave them away and by half time he was trailing the hitout count lmao

Something to note when looking at Ryan v Goldstein last night. Ryan has played 25 games, was coming in off a 4 week injury break and Goldy has been playing at the level since Ryan was 7 years old. FWIW I thought Ryan did ok given the circumstances. Like a lot of the young kids on our list he needs an extended opportunity with a consistent role to build confidence that he belongs.

He just needs 8 games in a row like jayden post

He played an overcooked geriatric, who's not even supposed to be playing, let alone getting flogged like a work horse and was still putrid. I honestly doubt he could dominate at W level. Pay him out, delist Colina and plan for the future.

the bolded part is just nuts to think about.

can see how much we miss nank. doubt they win clearances like they did last night if he was playing.

At times Ryan rucked against Wright ~misjudges throw ins, goal to Wright.

Started OK, but can't compete for a game.

The option we had was to delist him and bring in DFA Max Knobel. I never see Knobel play. Any better than Ryan

Ryan wasn’t allowed to compete in that contest he was told to stay out by the ump for not nominating (when he did)

It’s why Hopper is having a crack at the umpire

If those umps now come out and say they couldn't hear Samson's nomination, then they cannot ever pay a 50 metre penalty when a player claims he didn't hear "stand!".

But we all know there'll be no talk about it.

He has never had any second effort. How he has been able to get away with that has me baffled.
