come on - you can't just say because someone is the same height they are an "Ottens type". You are literally picking the best case scenario for someone that tall - there are a ****-ton of other players that bombed in that same mould.

Brad was an exceptional player, without doubt the best player to leave Richmond is the last 35 years.

If people had a real close look at Ryans form at VFL level, they would be much more comfortable with Ryan being the next in line for either the ruck or as a KPF should injury arise. Instead everyone seems to focus on the debut game and how 'poorly' he performed and believe that is the way he'll always play. The club clearly thinks the same given they've extended him for 2 more years before he even begins his second season.

Worst opponent to debut against. Low skilled bully who corked him in the opening minutes. I just wrote the whole game off.

Super impressed with the way he talks and his approach to improving and learning how to make it at the top level

First 206cm forward to ever be any good if that is the case. Odd stacked against. The King boys are tall but super athletic. I forgot, mason Cox....

I mentioned in an earlier post 'since Paul Salmon'. He also have the advantage of playing on 190-95cm full backs in those days rather than the Harris Andrews 202cm types. Also he was a bit of a one off, kicked 63 goals in his second year. Happy for Ryan to follow his trajectory.

My favourite thing I've noticed about him, besides the already mentioned athletic tools, is how pissed off he gets when he's beaten or stuffs something up. Has a level of pride you don't see much these days. Reckon it'll serve him well.

I haven't seen anything of him either, including his first game in the seniors. You said he was 'a county mile off before getting injured'. Didn't he get injured in his first play at the ball?

He killed it in the VFL playing FF with stints in the ruck. Give him 2 years and he will be super dangerous at AFL level IMO

I have very low expectations for Ryan. Getting re-signed was clearly a result of the club getting blindsided by losing Chol and CCH in one off season so good luck to him I'm pretty sure he's on minimum wage. A lot of Unjustified hype going on around him. Not sure why when the fact is even though last season was his first he's already 21 so he's pretty advance in his physical development. I'd love to be shocked and he kills it enough to become a very serviceable player or at very least traded for a low pick but realistically don't see it happening. The maggoos need hím firing so good luck to him.

Confess to being a bit surprised as well - that said he does seem to have the capacity to meet the level he has played - so far.

Wasn't that impressed with him at Sherwood in Qld. Could ruck the ball thrown up OK, his tap work was alright, but at his towering height so it should be! It was his boundary stuff that left a lot to be desired - was too easily shifted off the line by nearly any smaller oppo. If he makes the grade at VFL, I'd give him a chance. There are players who regularly do that - rise to the level - may not exceed it but they get to the level. He might be one of those.

Not sure he has any forward craft yet though. Still, he is working with pro's so why not. He has size. Just not sure he has that bit of grunt. Hope so!

We really have nfi idea with interrupted vfl season and his first afl game copped in injury in the first play he was involved in
Let him settle for another season or two before making any calls

Yep, he’s got 2 maybe 3 seasons of development before anyone can make a call on whether he’ll be a player or not

Yep,his game up forward against Brisbane Lions VFL side at the Gabba had some very good moment's of athletic forward craft .It's was a streamed game so i'm guessing it's on YouTube if anyone's interested.

Packed land of the giant forward lines rarely work efficiently. Probably too top heavy. That sort of forward line suggests just bombing it long in hope which is how you lose games in modern footy with the best teams just chopping everything off.

2 talls is probably the happy medium.
