Anyone who says Samson Ryan should play again this week,

Try and say it to the playing group when you've had players like RCD toil away in the 2s for 3 years to earn a game whilst a scrub waltzes in and plays the worst game in RFC history and gets to retain his spot based on THAT.

Anyone who honestly thinks Ryan will keep his spot hasn't played in a sporting club. No clue

Am I saying delist him? No

Growth Mindset - he sees the difference between AFL and VFL. Now go back and earn your spot.

Thankfully sporting clubs are more nuanced than you are suggesting. I largely agree with you, just not with the same language nor the black or white approach. I would have preferred to see Miller tried first as a back up, but even that is not ideal - Miller may well be needed now for Balta. We are seeing a real baptism of fire for some of our 'depth'.

Does anyone know what happened to Samson ? On the injury list with ankle 4-6 weeks .Did he get injured in the scrimmage game that we didn't get any information about from the club again? The media department from the club has gone backwards bigtime .I know cut backs have been made but other clubs seem too be able to get information out too their supporters.
The scrimmage game against Adelaide and Geelong and us had nothing from us both Geelong and Adelaide had write ups on their websites. Poor from the club when it was played at Punt rd .

Haven’t even seen anything from the players. Usually we see interviews etc, maybe it’s covid related…

Will be delisted. To skinny.
Even though he is skinny he likes to put body on body in the ruck, that is unusual in a skinny kid. Chol for example was/is the opposite. English another tall skinny who likes to jump around the opposing ruck. Good attribute to have with added weight and strength. He can also go forward and looks like a forward, leads for the ball in the VFL at least.

Ryan a long way away. But he has great tools, and a good attitude. Reckon he could be very good if he can put on some muscle.
Could/may end up like that Bombers CHF that played with the velvet glove type player...

Hasn't he been on the list for 1 year or so? haha

Won't be delisted. Heck even if he plays no AFL in 2022 I doubt he'd be delisted.
Yeah was only drafted start of this year so he still has a minimum 12 months left with us until his initial draft contract runs out and even than he definitely has a lot to work with

Yep.

Club was dumb/arrogant to debut him in wet weather whilst so raw. Similar to how CCJ wasn't sighted again for over a year.

I'd be wanting him consistently dominant at VFL level, not just competitive, before moving him to the big time.

Pencil him in for some 2023 games.

If it's a choice between Ryan and CCJ i'm taking Ryan .Moves well is more athletic plays the Key Forward role better and is a better more mobile ruck .

Is actually quite competitive and aggressive too from what I've seen. Bit of a nasty streak - not sure CCJ has that same mongrel

A lot went wrong that night - that game was a big turning point in our season - brain fades all round

By the fourth year, know whether or not the player fits into the system.
Further, there are always opportunities through injury in that time.
If someone is not a regular, constant player by the four-year mark then they have no future.
It is not easy to debut in a premiership year.
Callum, for example, made his debut in 2019, then another flag in the subsequent year.

People are crazy dissing this kid, he came in from qafl and acquitted himself bloody well at vfl , you’d be rapt with a top 20 pick performing like he did let alone pick 50 . Will be much better for another pre season has the tools to be a good player at the level , don’t you worry about that

Agree...reckon if he keeps developing we may just have a CHF in the making...

I am thinking our record of drafting key position or ruckman hasn’t been great. Rance, Astbury, Jack, Balta.all our rucks from other clubs(too soon to call Soldo as a success). Have I missed any? Lot more haven’t made it. Is it harder to pick those types or are our recruiters not as good at identifying the ones that will be good.
