we need to forget Samson's first game, picked up the massive corkie one minute in at his first contest that would have slowed down a Rhino and his young skinny leg just crumpled. we need to nurse soldo and Nank through the preseason and home and away for a tough finals campaign...so if the young fella can get at least eight or nine games under his belt all good for him to step up in 2023.

Agree, looked better in the reserves just in terms of movement

He looks a long way off an AFL player imo. Nothing wrong with that, but he's still a longer term project. Even Hartley admitted they didn't expect him him play his first couple of years.
So they throw him to the wolves in a wet night game

I still think he's a fair way off being a best 22 AFL player which is perfectly fine. Expect another development year in the VFL in 2022, then look for him to be cracking in to the side here and there in 2023.

If people had a real close look at Ryans form at VFL level, they would be much more comfortable with Ryan being the next in line for either the ruck or as a KPF should injury arise. Instead everyone seems to focus on the debut game and how 'poorly' he performed and believe that is the way he'll always play. The club clearly thinks the same given they've extended him for 2 more years before he even begins his second season.

Looks like a ruckman more than forward so he has a job to do to replace Nank or Soldo. But he looks like a good ruckman so when he gets his chance... Looks okay forward as well but pretty much on the lead.

Nahhh more a forward than a RUCK...takes a good grab and is a dead eye dick kick for goal ala JR8...

The extension so early is also understanding he's a longer term project, and it's giving him the security to develop.

Realistically, he isn't best 22 yet, and if he can poke through for 3-5 games in 2022 that's a great result.

A very good tap ruckman.

First 206cm forward to ever be any good if that is the case. Odd stacked against. The King boys are tall but super athletic. I forgot, mason Cox....

Paul Salmon.

Richard Lounder averaged a 4 goal haul at least once for every 4 games he played.

Mate Colina.

I could go on.
