Agreed, I think yze will back in Samson to be the man next week …. Samson and nank could make a good 1,2 punch in the ruck as well

Maybe people needs to accept that Samson is our future Nank replacement and the club is showing faith in what they see
personally i think he should be played all year in the VFL Ruck with 6-7 games in the AFL specially with Nank being rested but the boy must be built and conditioned to be a Ruckman.
Faull is still a way off full fitness and game time and i would hate to see the club rush him when not fully ready and be selected to fail.

I don’t disagree, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his contract is one more year after Nank’s current deal ends (although I also suspect that there was a negotiation about length).
Yet the interesting part to me is that you’ve got Ryan, OHB, Colina and Sims all need VFL time through the ruck.
I didn’t watch the whole game against. Carlton VFL on Friday, but I’m not sure if Ryan attend a centre bounce or any non-forward 50 stoppage. Going to be hard to get the minutes needed to ensure he can step in to Nank’s shoes if needed during the year.
Its only Round 1 and a long season ahead
I would be extremely surprised if at least 1-2 of the Ruckman on the list are not injured for significant periods

I’m disappointed for Samson …. He’s been banging the door down all pre season only to be denied a crack even with lynch out of the side
Needs to be playing ruck in the VFL. hes not gonna get a look in as a forward.

If the plan is to develop him as a ruck, then not sure why they were playing both Hayes-Brown & Colina in the ruck ahead of him last week. Surely the plan is that Ryan will ruck from now on with the VFL season beginning this weekend. If not then he is going to be pushing shit up hill to get picked ahead of any of the kids as a forward option given the decision to pick Fawcett over him.
I have faith that Samson can make it as a ruckman, but he needs to develop a mean streak as well as a willingness to do the follow up work that Nankervis excels at like defensive pressure and contested work as well as the ability to drift into the D50 and take intercept marks. If he can't do that then he may as well start looking for another team to play for.

I’d say they know Ryan can ruck and really needs to be improving his forward craft
If we can’t use a VFL practice match to get some time into both Colina and OHB I’m not sure when we would

If he had knocked the door down any more the door would have come off its hinges … feel bad for Samson
Why? he isn't a good fit for our forward line at present. Unfortunately for him he is a ruckman but just doesn't take enough marks around the ground.
He isn't getting a game ahead of Nank. Reckon the club is playing him forward in the VFL to try and improve his marking ability.

How does one measure that Mate and Oliver have overtaken Ryan? Have read this observation by a few on here. Both are so far away from AFL standard. Yes they can stand and jump and tap the ball and chase but not much else atm.
Kudos to Oliver for his rapid improvement but he has come from a long way back is the worst kick in the VFL by a long way.
Mansell and Hugo proved u all wrong. Maybe Dow will but maybe not. Hope Ryan does.

plays like he is 165cm and 65 kg, a waste of size with no agro.
I don't think he has. They're just trying to work on his forward craft, as he'll have to play at least 50% of the game as a forward to fit into the side with Nank.
In saying that, I do think it's gotten to the point where OHB has more upside than him, which is a bit of a concern.

We have four rucks on the list and yet it still feels pretty dire. If Nank goes down we just have the unproven Samson or two basketballlers.
Wouldn't be surprised if we do get some injuries that we get a mature aged ruck in the MSD. I'm hoping we see Samson at senior level this year and that he is able to show something, losing hope though.

I wonder with Bauer having an ordinary game if Ryan comes in for him …. Would allow Armstrong to focus solely and his forward craft which is what we want
I'd sooner we bring in Gray to play down back and use Blight as ruck/forward than do that.
But I guess we should see how everyone goes tomorrow.
i cant accept it, the two new kids showed more than Ryan in their first game. Ryan has to lift big time.
at least bauer is mobile, Ryan is a goodsih set shot, thats about it.
