huge call before one single game.
its AFLW rules basically where clubs still use 2 rucks No.1 ruck and back up ruck.

ball getting thrown up makes zero difference to Nank

No boundary throw ins just means oppo kick into their fwd line. .

its slow and Nank/any ruck just sets up in D50. intercept marking Nank's forte. '

if anything slow giraffes get found out. ,. Balta is way quicker, might return to back up rucking
I think the point being made was less about the throwing up of the ball, but more to do with centre bounce rucks can’t cross that line to engage, it must be a run and jump ruck contest essentially which heavily impacts nank.

Especially as he is one of the shortest number 1 rucks in the comp.

Around the ground stays relatively the same, but centre bounce was already an area we struggled in as a collective and will now be at a further disadvantage which is a concern.

If only we had a Girrafe that could play

Round 1 would you be selecting Ryan over Nank?

A Nank who can't jump at centre bounces will offer more than 24 y.o. Ryan...still plays ok for a qtr and disappears completely.
takes a mark needs an oxygen machine to fill up.
Ryan stayed on that last qtr vs 205 Witts GCS~ just ragdolled.

Ryan, Sims No 5 on the bench is what may happen.

Nank retire now?

MSD a new rules ruck?

I’m definitely not suggesting Nank gets discarded, I don’t think anyone is.

But I’d think we’d be a bit naive if we didn’t acknowledge the centre bounce piece in particular does not favour us much at all.

5th spot could very well be the solution and maybe we get more tactical with who rucks where.

I replied to a LTT post 3211 about new rules & Nank's career ending

maybe it does and Ryan turns into a jumping machine over preseason 5, 6
Maxy Gawn II

no centre bounce anymore so Sampson Ryan come on down

improved centre clearance nos

Hopefully Ryan does put size on his Scare Crow frame... Probably make or break in 2026, he's had enough time.
should definitely be showing something by now. you rarely see a player just magically put it all together in an off season after being delistable in the lead up. hard to see any drastic improvement.

I'm showing my age, but we need a ruckman like Craig McKellar in the 70's. He was only 196 and had a really good leap and was lighter and quite mobile for the ruckman of the day. Funny how history ends up repeating. Maybe Simms or even Balta or Lafau could be the answer. Nank could play ruck/forward swapping in the ruck after the toss up

For clarity do you know what happens after the first toss up? Is it back to wrestling?

I thought the AFL were going with the last touch out of bounds, opposition get a kick in instead of throw in? Thought it had been trialled at other levels?
In-between the arcs.
Throw in if it's a contested situation
