Pace is handy, but for the role he plays, his decision-making and footskills are more than enough. Lots of people forget that in making play, a good kick goes faster than anyone on that field can run (not disputing the role of pace in line-breaking and even link up work to a degree). If he can shut down his opponent, get the ball 10-15 times per game, make a good decision and execute that decision, then he's a keeper.
He's also shown a fair bit of maturity in knowing when to drift forward or to the middle.

North Melbourne will be without Ed Vickers-Willis for up to eight weeks with the young defender injuring his PCL against Richmond.

The 21-year-old fell on his knee and the Round 11 encounter at Etihad Stadium and is required to wear a brace for the next three weeks.

“No surgical intervention is needed but we anticipate a stint on the sidelines of between six to eight weeks,” North’s senior performance consultant Steve Saunders told NMFC.com.au.

Vickers-Willis made his debut in Round 5 against Fremantle and played seven consecutive games averaging 14 disposals.

That's bad luck for the young kid. We know what he is capable of, let's get him right for Day 1 of the pre-season, so he can come back bigger and better next year. In the meantime, give another one of our kids a good block of 11 games to see if they have what it takes.

Bugger. Ed has shown a lot and has great composure. At least we know he has a future and let's bring on the next young bloke ( Hibberd / Neilsen )for an extended run .
