Obviously not a great result, but I think he has shown enough for us to be confident that he can make the level.

This injury now forms an opportunity for Durdin and Nielsen to get their crack.

I'll be really disappointed if we don't replace youth with youth.

EMERGING North Melbourne defender Ed Vickers-Willis has suffered another injury blow with a knee injury expected to sideline him for up to eight weeks.

North revealed on Tuesday afternoon Vickers-Willis had injured his posterior cruciate ligament in the club's round 11 loss to Richmond and would be in a knee brace for the next three weeks.

"No surgical intervention is needed but we anticipate a stint on the sidelines (for Vickers-Willis) of between six to eight weeks," North senior performance consultant Steve Saunders said.

Vickers-Willis has been one of North's most promising youngsters in 2017.

The third-year defender finally made his AFL debut in round five this season – shoulder injuries disrupted the start of his career at Arden Street – and held his spot up until North's round 12 bye, averaging 13.7 possessions and 3.1 tackles a game.

The 21-year-old's injury could open the door for one of his fellow 2014 draftees Sam Durdin and Daniel Nielson to come into the Kangaroos' team for Friday night's clash against St Kilda.

Durdin made his debut in round three this season and returned for a second game in round eight, but Nielson has yet to play a senior match.

How do you do a PCL that doesn't require surgery to fix? The way it was explained to me (when I did my ACL) is that surgery is required to fix it or you will just have to live with the injury - a ligament won't heal on its own.

Can any medical, science type persons explain?

Dunno.

They may deem the extent of the injury to be at the point where he could play before requiring surgery.

He's done for the year anyway.

I presume it depends on the severity of the damage RR. Grade 1 and 2 graded injuries require immobilization followed by a rebuilding of strength. Grade 3 a reco.

Hopefully this opens the door for Hibberd to get another go. But ofcourse either way just hope some youth gets another shot.

Thanks. Assuming ACLs are categorised the same way, that makes sense in terms of the advice I was given many moons ago.

P.S. We gave my 3yr old daughter a new teddy a few weeks ago and asked her what she wanted to call it.

"Twinkletoes"

Stuffed if I know how she came up with that. Can already unlock my phone though so maybe she's been reading BF! :)

I was told I didn't require surgery. It still hurts but not a lot. Have to move it often & bend knee to change the pain.

You might be onto something. A bigfooty site for the young'uns. No doubt the discussion would be of a higher quality!
