I was very impressed, even if he doesn't get games early it was great to see EVW and Durdin be aggressive and playing out in front, backing themselves to win the ball. It should put Thompson and Hansen on notice that their style of defending in recent seasons hasn't been top shelf material and they shouldn't be given positions by default.

At least he brings some 'C' factor that's been missing / departed the list. Boomer had it down pat.. Spud in spades and Drew in portions.. need more mongrel and Marley is a decent add. Nice boys don't win flags. Never have, never will. Ed better have some 'hate to get beat' vemon that Archer possessed in his early days when a round house swing into the ribs was a reflex action.

96-99 flag sides had a good dose of mongrel in the back 6, love to see that again.

I'd certainly like to see us play without the extra for a change. Under Bon it seems to be his M.O. for every single game, and some sides have utilised their spare well to bamboozle us.
