AFL Player #15: Jayden Laverde

By the way, if you're 100% and it wasn't from a mate's mate's uncle's cousin's father's sister, then...

You're a Laverde :O
Of some sort... in some capacity...

Unless... you have something to do with Essendon... ;)

Suspicious...
You don't have to believe me. I trust what I've heard.

Extremely concerning to be so injury-prone this early in his career.
The annoying part is they aren't injuries that are reoccurring. It's the shitty 1 in 300 injuries he gets.

Just needs luck more than anything else.

he's having surgery tomorrow to amputate his ankle at the knee

And here's the solution

Laverde injury update

Jayden Laverde will be sidelined until at least the mid-season bye because of an ankle injury.

The 20 year old injured his ankle during the second half of the match against Geelong on Sunday.

He’ll have surgery this week and spend the first half of the season on the sidelines.

“It’s obviously disappointing for Jayden to have this setback on the eve of the season,” High Performance Justin Crow said.

“After seeking a specialist opinion we have decided that surgical repair is the best long term option for Jayden in this instance.

“All going well, we will be hoping to see Jayden back playing football soon after the mid-season bye ”

Laverde has played 18 games for the Bombers across his first two seasons in the AFL.

So it wouldn't be too unfair to say that he wont play senior footy this year.

I don't think we've been the unluckiest team with injuries over the last 10 or so years but we wouldn't be far off.

Winderlich, Andrew Welsh, Gumbleton, Myers, etc etc.

Oh wait, I forgot Ridley :(

And both our ruckmen.

I was certain you were trolling :(

Some guys just seem to always get these weird injuries. Like last year someone fell on him and did his shoulder. This year he somehow snaps his boot and does some highly unusual ankle injury. Oh well hope he comes back and has a good second half of the season. Not much more to say really.

The only solace i can take is that maybe i will get to see Begley play more games.

nah, I reckon it happens to all clubs, it's just that we don't know the stories of the opposition players who are not regular best 22 and are forced into premature retirement/delisting due to injury

Think you're right, not much hope of playing any senior footy this year, especially if we're in the running for the eight.

He'll play this year.
I don't think he will. If he's not back until at least the second half of the year, presumably through the VFL, then everything would have to go perfectly for him to play senior footy this year.

It seemed a bit vague, they said he could play again after the Bye. Was that 7-8 weeks of recovery and then building up fitness to play round 13/14, or he wont start training to play until round 13/14?

If its the latter I doubt he gets back this year, or if he does it wont be for a significant number of games.
