I was hoping we could keep him for another year see how he responded after getting over his injury. One of those players you think with a run of a few games in the ones could have done enough to get another contract at least.
Might get picked up as depth by another club.

A sad goodbye, Marc. You never got a proper run at it. I liked what I saw from you and regret that you have been burned by injury. If you're determined, and I hope you are, you can come and play VFL with us, which would be awesome. Or you could follow the well trodden path to the SANFL and try your luck there.

Really sad we lost him.

A pretty talented and fierce player, brought down by injury. Smart move by GWS.

looks like none of our delisted players have opted to stay at the Club on the VFL list. Interesting.

Same, I was hoping he'd join our VFL squad.
I was actually hoping we wouldn't delist him. Thought he had a lot to offer. He looked OK in his games and I saw him twice in ressies and he looked really good. Very sharp. Excellent positional sense.
Hard to see that young Kirk has a higher ceiling.

Seems a pretty sensible idea to pursue other opportunities at another club. Whether it be in your home state or otherwise, the club have made it clear that they don't see a future for you at the Swans by delisting you, makes sense to go somewhere else to try your luck.

I assume Marc along with HHK, Clarke et al will watch how Reid performs in 2024, and do so with great interest. All this given the Club opted to give Reid the last position.
Reid and Kirk got the last positions.
Reid is a proven performer and a real asset when fit and he appears to have gotten fit as he did at the beginning of 2022. Keeping him makes plenty of sense IMO.
The guys we traded in all make sense too.
The two talls we drafted are long term investments so there is risk involved.
Clarke had reached his ceiling and we needed to make a call.
I struggle to see on exposed form that young Kirk is an improvement on HHK or Sheather or has a higher ceiling. It would have been the same had we taken one of the other Academy lads.

None of the players you name are going to be in a position to be the player that puts us over the top in the finals this coming season.
Reid if healthy certainly could do that with his marking around the ground and in front of goal. So in that sense it's a good decision by the Swans. From the little I saw of Sheather, I really liked him, thought him under rated, but I'd guess the recruiting of Adams and Jordon just pushed him too far down the depth chart with also Sheldrick and Roberts coming on.

Wouldn't write Sheather off earning his way back on an AFL list though - all depends on being in the right place at the right time for him I guess, like a lot of opportunities in life. If GWS lose a few midfielders to injury he can be back as quickly as the midseason given the size and willingness he has.

Reid has shown more than any of those players. Fully fit he is our FF and backup ruck. I think all those fringe players understand where they stand on comparison to Reid
