Covid.

Has and will destroy so many mid-to-late (and rookie) draftees careers.

The lower the pick the fewer the expectations and the harder opportunity becomes.

I pretty much agree
However we cant ask for big change then complain when it happens. And us supporters wouldnt have a clue what goes on around the whys and wherefores.

Without knowing anything other than what I saw at VFL level, this strikes me as a premature and disappointing decision. I assumed he'd be given another year at least as a rookie, his form up to the VFL stopping was usually solid, and very good in many games.

I assume Power and O'Keefe had some input, and if they were iffy on him then fine. If Austin, Lloyd and Voss said "who's this...eh, 3rd rounder, hasn't done much, move him on" despite development being supportive, I'd be pissed off.

I guess there is still the opportunity to go back and play state footy and dominate there and see if he can get a chance that way.

There is absolutely zero chance that this decision was made by Austin, Lloyd and Voss without input from the guys that coached him. Having said that, I’m really saddened by this one Despite never having seen him play. Many that saw him thought he deserved a go and it really sucks that he wasn’t given that opportunity. I hope and truly do believe that the next coaching group will be much better regarding giving the young guys a go.

I assume with the way Kennedy and Eddie were dropped to the rookie list directly, Sam won’t be ending up there via the rookie draft?

Inexcusable that Ramsay didn’t get a game over two years yet we were crap AND Newnes played enough matches in 2021 to force the club into a contract extension. It’s negligence. Weather he can go on to an Afl career or not.
We’ve just delisted a guy who is an elite kick.

Bad luck for the young lad, victim of limited list spots and still a few seasons off it maturity wise for a player of his size…

Was very stiff not to probably get a game during a very solid patch getting good numbers while the overall team list was hit big with injuries…

Would like to see him hopefully get a chance to develop under O’Keefe and Power on our reserves list, see if he can get another shot…
 
Never saw what he could do at AFL level would have liked to have seen Teague give him a run in the latter stages of the year.
