Haven't heard a thing about him, didn't play in the intraclub game afaik, didn't play pre-season games or VFL practice matches. And now he's apparently in the rehab group? Does anyone know what is actually wrong, or what his expected recovery time is?

It would be nice if the injury report actually included everyone who isn't available to play...

Well, they used to have it on the website, seems to have disappeared last couple of years.

Website less about footy, more about marketing.

I heard he had some sort of cliff related incident?

You can still get the “injury list” on the AFL website, but it’s updated by the journalists not the club doctor so they don’t know any better than we do

Why did the club remove it from the website in the first place? Ridiculous.

What’s the go with Flipper? Not on the injury list for ages but no sign of him in the senior side
He's been injured, rejoined the VFL last week iirc after missing the intra club, all the pre-season games and the start of the season proper. There's a couple of them that we know are injured who aren't featured in the injury list or weekly updates – same with Guelfi and McBride. We don't even know what the exact injury is... Guelfi was rumoured to be a foot issue but no idea about the others. Happens every year with depth players.

They did mention Phillips in the team selection or press conference last week in the context of Draper being injured and who might replace him, he was barely back from injury though and we've been making a point this year of anyone who has been injured coming back through the VFL to build up their fitness, not just throwing them into the seniors underdone, which seems to be what happened under Worsfold and previously.

Thankyou.... any idea when he might be ready for selection?

Finally back playing. Still dunno what his injury was...
“‘Flip’ was really good. It was his first game back from injury and it was great to see him out there. He really dominated when he was in the ruck. He took about four or five really strong marks. He was a really consistent performer for us over the four quarters. It was a really solid game for the first game back from injury.”

Ruck/forward and kicked a couple of goals.

Andrew Phillips
Stats: 15 disposals, nine marks, two goals, 23 hitouts, two tackles

“Phillips was another player that played well for us on the day. He competed really hard, kicked a couple of goals, played ruck and forward and presented and was actually one of our better players, so it was a good effort from ‘Flip’.”

I would drop him next week. Never plays two good games in a row. But I would then play him the week after. No matter how s**t he plays in the vfl.

Watching the replay and it's undeniable that he kicked ass today against... Held his own against Mr Mega Bucks and did some solid defensive work (even looked like that other dude) with his big punches...

He is an enigma though like others have mentioned... Plays blinders on an inclusion after being lost in the VFL for eva...

Why can't he ever play two good games in a row ???

The question is really whether there’s room for him (or Draper, or Bryan) plus Hooker / Wright / Jones.

It worked alright today but might be a bit horses for courses.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jones spends some time in the reserves now. I think there would be if Stringer wasn't that awkward tweener

Might be his best games he throws himself into the contest and plays really physical, and then pulls up really sore and can't back that up.

Very good point Hank. He's very cerebral with his game but I've never seen him go week to week consistently. Might be something in the science of a longer rest for a Ruckman like Andrew...
