As much as I hate you guys, why can't opposition supporters not post in this thread? ******* hate Essendon and lets hope ASADA do the right thing. :)
Opposition banter about this would have been nice, I agree. It's in that very rare instance Collingwood and Carlton supporters agree with each other on.

I think the opposition supporters remark might be aimed at 1 particular team but there maybe a stigma attached to outing just them.

If we opened it up to opposition supporters, we would soon be flooded with wankers who support black and red attacking us and supporting the blind view that their club did nothing wrong.

It's true, we don't have a monopoly on hating the lab-rats. I think making the thread "Carlton only" was more about keeping Essendon* fans' noses out rather than excluding other like-minded fans from other clubs. It is a pity though, since I'm sure there would be plenty of entertaining contributions coming in. Check out the matching thread on the Norf board if you haven't already. :thumbsu:

Come on down Joey Daniher...

I hope that he wasnt involved in it... but I hope that he was... because that will be the straw that destroys the Essendon* camel.

Hird will never come back to Australia and he might have to think about buying Skase's old place in Spain.

Not to Essendon supporters. Lots of "if", "alleged", "possibly", "false dawns", etc.

Of course Fairfax has to use these words for a reason, they don't want the annoyance of Essendon's lawyers after them. But there has to be some solid grounding to this because there has been a consistent line of reporting. This isn't the first time where a "infractions will be handed out" has been written, then you have the big brother of that Hamish dickhead talking of "contingencies". THEN you have the new CEO of ASADA giving a stern warning in his first press conference. I don't think that's a coincidence at all.

Gotta feel for McLachlan what a s**t storm Vlad has left him.

Up to 40 takes it from chronic pain to obliteration. Given list changes, how many are
they left with, a dozen players?
How does the AFL address the TV contracts, stadium deals etc if a team can't be fielded?
Is it possible the slow burn is at the behest of the AFL to mitigate the fall out?
The AFL will want them "rebuilt" for financial reasons, but how? How are premiership points
for any club beaten by the Bombers this season?
Have seen suggestion of draft concessions. No way AFL could justify "gifting" top end talent
to a club in disgrace when multiple clubs (including us) are struggling to recover from the
draft concessions of the expansion clubs.
Couldn't be happier if and when any drug cheat get's their whack, but the fall-out is going
to be horrendous.

Convicted athlete support personnel face six-year ban under new code
Coates, who is vice-president of the International Olympic Committee and president of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport, said all sports that were signed up to the WADA code (which include rugby league and Australian Football) needed to be aware of the new rules.

One of the key features of the new code is a crackdown on the “athlete entourage’’ — coaches, managers, trainers, sports scientists or medical staff who facilitate athletes taking banned substances. Coates said a rule entitled “Prohibited Association’’ would make it a violation for any athlete or organisation to associate “in a professional or sports-related capacity’’ with a support person found guilty of a doping offence for at least six years after their conviction.

Coates said he believed anyone sanctioned as a result of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority investigation into substances used at the Cronulla and Essendon clubs would also be declared a “prohibited person’’ once the new code was introduced next year.

That's the real problem, isn't it?

Seems many would be happy to see Essendon burn but the repercussion to the league as a whole could be devastating.............and Essendon want Hird back. Go figure.

Gil talked of "contingency" plans. Meaning extraordinary draft, where Essendon fields a team full of VFL players and draftees. So you still have them playing.

There may well be players out there but they'd hardly be representative of the club.

Where would these players come from and why should other leagues be disrupted thanks to Mr. James Hird?

Who knows what will happen for sure? We'll just have to wait and see.
