Spoke with a person who has a lot of football connections, some of the highest profile media types in the business, potential club manager etc. He was absolutely adamant that they had done no wrong and there would be no repercussions.
As I dug around though I realised that he, and it appeared the general "insiders" view of things, was very superfluous and no one was really looking beyond the headlines. I figured these types of people would know vastly more and in deeper detail than those of us who spend months trawling through the threads on the main boards - they simply do not.
I said they would be smashed from here to kingdom come. He laughed. When I explained the role WADA played in the whole thing he was genuinely shocked, and didn't even realise there was a potential for a higher authority to come in. This was a pervasive attitude.
I genuinely think people are not realising this aspect, the fact that things are completely out of the hands of ASADA, and that if they fail to act accordingly the repercussions will be massive - they simply have no choice but to throw the book at them.
