Thank goodness this day has finally arrived, EssADA* now can finally put up the evidence they supposedly have to clear their players or they and their delusional supporters can finally shut the **** up.

Dramoth was close but no cigar. The ASADA briefs and the players responses to the show cause letters go to the independent ADRV panel. The ADRVP then decide if there is sufficient evidence and if so enter the players names on the register of findings and forward the evidence to the special AFL drugs tribunal. The ADRVP acts like a committal hearing in the criminal system. There is no time limit on the time they take to evaluate the evidence.

At this point the players can appeal to the AAT on grounds that ASADA made procedural errors - not guilt or innocence. If unsuccessful they can then appeal to the federal court also only on procedural grounds.

Whilst under these appeals the players would not be suspended. Once exhausted normally the players would be stood down until the tribunal hearing.
damn... forgot the ADRVP step...

I wonder if any player or players will break ranks and admit to illegal activities. Allow himself/themselves to be listed as a drug cheat and accept the appropriate punishment. I'd probably do it;)

Just suspended from all competitive sport for 2 years. Main thing is reputational damage
This is another "the thing is", the AFL don't want the brand damaged, not at all in a billion dollar business.

ASADA is employed by the AFL, who could just as easily shelve them for the sake of the game.

Just sayin'

"The best news is that the speed of the process now is dictated by law.. ie ASADA is 'on the clock' to move from Show Cause to Tribunal etc etc...<br /><br />The delays will come if we challenge it legally.. and it gets tied up in court. If it gets tied up in court then the players have to find a way to play through the distraction and you look at the very real possibility that most of them will be near the end of their careers by the time it is finalised anyway.<br /><br />Why we self reported and bought this shit storm down on us I will never understand, nor will I ever forgive. Two wasted seasons and counting.<br /><br />Also do we even have 34 players from that period still on our list?<br/>"

ASADA isnt employed by the AFL. ASADA is a government body that oversees the prevention of cheating through the use of illegal supplements and performance enhancing substances.

The only way that the AFL can 'shelve' them would be to withdraw from the agreement they have with ASADA at which point, all PEDS and illegal supplements become open to every club and player and damned the health consequences down the track. If the AFL withdraws from the agreement, they also lose any access to government funding going forward. They could also lose any TV rights money because of the stigma associated with PEDs and other substances.

AFL have to get tough with this one, the whole sport is in jeopardy of becoming unpopular and unsustainable if Essendon players get away with this through legal posturing.

This has to be dealt with over the next two months, not get dragged out in the courts for two-years.
Not going to happen...

If the AFL deal with it, the players will turn and sue the club...

Damien Barrett is saying a lot of very big words, and not making very much sense.
Showed that he actually doesn't understand the process at all. He should read the HTB for an education.

Only Sam is a bigger moron, he like many Essenbogans believes the players will have their day in open court. There is no place in our court system for them to challenge the drug taking, only the procedures. They only have the AFL tribunal, AFL appeals board and CAS
