I thought that the use of "voluntary suspensions" would be one way for them to weasel out of that situation, allowing players to return to competition earlier.

However if they did take the VS option then ASADA would still pursue the case, as it is a provisional suspension that accrues a credit against any possible ban. It is not seen as an admission of guilt.
