Player Watch #34: Jack Graham - Part 2

I’ve said from day one he’s one dimensional and lacks any pace. Some saying he will captain the club in the future is laughable. I haven’t seen him play a descent game since the gf

He could be like a poor mans Joel Selwood?

graham has a lot of upside - he only needs to get a bit better in some areas, he is still pretty young with a bit of upside

I think the best game he played was last year against Freo when Cotch was out.
IMO Graham goes into play Cotchs role and Ross comes in to play Grahams role.

Something like that.

In some ways with the injuries we might end up playing a more crash and bash style, and hopefully just free players up to do their thing.

It'll be interesting to see if Shai gets a go. In form and we need that skills and run.

Sorry mate I honestly can’t see it. His lack of any speed is terrible. He’s not a clearance machine. I’m not sure what they hope he will become

Joel Selwood is not super quick but he has better wheels than Graham. this game does not suit slow players and you'll get found out very quickly.

Graham’s big game as a main mid was rubbish.

14 touches, turned it over.

I’d be punting him once Martin and Cotch are back.

Ross gets his spot.

Graham wasn't rubbish. Plenty of Tigers made errors but they kept the pressure on Port and Graham played his part in that well and truly. He may or may not be in the best 22 at this stage but he is no passenger Graham.

14 touches from a main mid with no other tricks, who turned it over, is a passenger.

Hey, if this is a once off or he’s in a bit of a slump, no probs, but he’s averaged 14 touches a game in both his previous seasons. This is his normal output.

He is a passenger in a decent team.

The guy had 6 tackles. An effective tackle can be worth multiples of possessions because on average if you don't make that tackle the opposition get a disposal to advantage, some of which will end in chains of possessions. There are tackles and tackles of course but he is good at it and that is where his value lies. There is no doubt he is not a top liner or an A grade mid, but ultimately you can't have too many of those guys as you go over your salary cap.

I think Graham has been ok this year and deserves his spot no way would I be dropping him. I don’t think he’ll ever be a top line midfielder but I see him as a reliable soldier that gets the job done and is a team player.

We don’t tag but he’s our best option to play run with/ shut down roles and that should be one of his main roles in the team
