Not good enough to persist with, the moment he decided not commit to standing in front of hawkins, not even put a hand up shows his heart is not there, he has no desire to show any kahunas for his troops, this moment would have seen shaw seething!

Now now Mrs Mac, your talking rubbish.
Your son had a good game today, not a great game.
Did he still cherry pick what contests to attack..yes.
Did he still struggle to clear the ball from the backline...yes
Did he still stuff the kick ins...yes
Did he still leave the grunt work to T + T.....yes
Did he play better than usual....yes
Still doesn’t make him a footballer good enough to begin our 22.
[/QUOTE After reading your report I doubt you even think he had a good game

This thread should be upgraded to Certified Legendary Status. The Duck Yeah idiocy along with all his mates, have gone beyond hate now and fallen into irrational stupid hate with a sprinkle of pure bitterness. The guy has played 155 games for this club, he WILL be at the club next year and beyond. He will be a 200+ game player for this club. He beat one on one of the all time great players, in a game when the ball was constantly being pumped into dangerous areas. Ablett has to get way up the field to get his touches, and didn’t even get a shot at goal.

When it gets to the stage when one of our players having a good game actually makes you angry, I reckon it’s time to give it away.

Not having the testicular fortitude to admit you are wrong or give credit to a player who played a good game despite the lack of support from the midfield group kind of makes any opinion you have about anything kind of irrelevant, it would be more productive talking to a brick wall.

I did see this, I am not sure he could have done anything to impact that contest.

But it did kinda set the tone.

3 possessions inside 50, and 2 of those were barely inside the line.

Are the blue dots the parts of the ground where he waved his arms in the air and whinged at the umpires?

Ablett's game as a high half forward was more than handy. Do we have high half forwards who pick up 23 and effectively become an extra midfielder when required? No and it's part of our problem.

Was Macmillan instructed to let him run free up the ground? Don't know but it's hard to win the midfield when that happens.
Go quarter by quarter and you'll find Ablett got all his ball in the 2nd half up the field when he got moved of JMac. Even then he had 10 turnovers
Who was playing on him in the second half then?

Your point? At 1/2 time GAJ had 5 disposals, 0 contested, and went up into the midfield to get away from Clamps Macmillan. Had 0 disposals inside forward 50 and 12 turnovers, while Clamps had 24 at 83% with 10 contested and 10 intercept possessions.
So again, who played on Ablett in the second half?

In all seriousness.

He was ordinary and had minimal impact on the result.

There's a good reason why an ageing superstar now spends the bulk of his time up forward and it's because that's where he's still dangerous. The fact he had to be moved to get involved suggest he was copping a pasting and he was.

Credit to him for being more involved in the last half, but he was nothing more than bog average and the credit for that goes to the boys in the box and the bloke on the ground doing the job.
