Your point? At 1/2 time GAJ had 5 disposals, 0 contested, and went up into the midfield to get away from Clamps Macmillan. Had 0 disposals inside forward 50 and 12 turnovers, while Clamps had 24 at 83% with 10 contested and 10 intercept possessions.

Yeah Geelong kick 6.6 to our 0.3 in the second half, Ablett plays high half forward and picks up 18, but hey, who cares who played on him?

Watch the replay, have a look then post the criticism in the correct player thread maybe, because this ain't the thread for it.

0 goal assists, 0 goals, 12 turnovers.

He was basically a useless stat crab. He's done.

It’s not that I don’t care. Though I don’t care a lot. I don’t know. I was engrossed with the general train wreck on one hand and the wallaby forward pack on the other.

He actually did a lot more than our half forwards. He played high half forward, got up the ground, laid 10 tackles, picked up 18 and helped his midfield smash ours in the second half. We constantly looked outnumbered between the arcs, barely got the ball inside 50 - absolutely smashed we were. If you let opposition half forwards like Ablett and Dahlhaus get up high unopposed, good luck.

Guarantee if any of Garner or Turner (or whoever else is supposed to be playing high half forward) picked up 23 and laid 10 tackles supporters would be happy.

We would be demanding that they are in the All Australian Team, and of course using words like star, gun etc on this forum.

Played one of his better games for the year in a team that kicked its lowest ever score. EVER!!!! Message there - just not sure what it is. But far from our worst player last night.

Just had a look at the replay.

Ablett started forward at the beginning of the 3rd with Macmillan his opponent.

He moved to the midfield around 5 minutes in to break the shackles and was manning Cunners at the stoppages.

Macmillan kept his position and was opposed to a rotation of Dalhaus and Parfitt from that point.

Ablett then went forward for the beginning of the last, opposed by JMac again (who then picked up Dangerfield once Ablett went further afield 5mins or so in), as per the 3rd qtr.

Speaking to people who were actually there, Geelong pushed Ablett, Parfitt and co up higher including to stoppages in the second half giving them extras while we left their men, including Macmillan back playing as spares after the initial 6-6-6.

Outnumbered, we got smashed at stoppages, contested ball and loose ball in between the arcs. The inside 50 differential in the second half was horrendous.

West Coast did the same thing - their small forwards worked high up the ground and got involved in stoppages and chains from stoppages. We don't have the flexibility to match sides who do this well. We have too many unagile, one-paced players, including defenders. Send them up higher to stoppages to even up the numbers and we get exposed in the space behind. But that was the risk we had to take last night and didn't.

We're coming to the end of a long season. Our younger players look tired, our midfield was thrashed, our crash-bang style has probably taken its toll, and injuries limit our ability to replace out of form and tired players.

We're not as bad as we looked last night, and with another preseason under our belt, Shaw will presumably revamp our game plan.

Nonetheless, our list continues to look one-dimensional. We obviously need to draft and trade well.

Onwards to 2020.

Playing the lock-down role really well. He can really build from this and honestly this could be the thing if he plays up the ground. Locking down his opponent and running off his man to support run can help bring numbers to the contest, thus, making it easier for us to get the ball into our 50 cleaner. Theoretically.

Possibilities opening up...
