Will kneecap you before you enter the gates :D
Being a Tigers fan you'll miss the target and take out a grandma walking 15m away

I know there was a player watch about McBean not too long ago, but I wanted to make a real straight forward poll, yes or no, about this guy.

Many people on here are putting a lot of faith in this guy to be our next hero. The two games I saw him play he looked like a fish out of water to be honest, but I say that knowing he was young and inexperienced.

I know there is little confidence is the current coaching staff at the moment, but even they would be putting him in if they thought he could play and win us games. From the few pieces of information I get out of the club, I don't think people believe he will make it.

What do you people think ? Especially those who watch the VFL.

He seems like he will always be a good VFL player but never an AFL. Am I seeing this wrong ? Does he actually have potential and we're not developing him right ?

I don't think he will make it to 50 games for us and it pains me to say it, as i am a fan of him. He is too inconsistent, not just week to week performance wise, but also in effort. He needs to consistently put in effort, week in week out. At the moment, he can't do it at VFL level and won't make it to AFL level if it continues.

He'll kick 10 goals in the Grand Final this year.

The 10th will get us the win.

As a result, he'll win the Norm Smith.

McDOnalds will release a limited edition McBean burger.

Liam will retire to follow his dream of becoming a jockey.

Knowing how we develop players he is following the same path as Griffiths & Astbury but worse because he probably wont get as many games.

To be fair, Astbury has missed a fair chunk of games through injury. Sure Griffiths missed a few with his shoulders, but there is no excuses for Griff or McBean, imo. At least Astbury looked decent before he got injured a couple of times.

I'm surprised we haven't tried to make a CHB out of McBean .... well that's what we usually do

I can't believe for the life of me he hasn't had a chance , we've barely kicked more than 10 goals a game and the most adventurous we ve been is debut Rioli and short this year.
Just give him a couple of games ffs to see what he can do or alternately , give him 50 or more like griff to try and show us something

I have no idea about whether McBean can make it at AFL level or not. He just hasn't been given enough opportunity at AFL level for me to form an opinion. I think RFC needs to play him in the Seniors for 6 - 8 weeks straight regardless of his output just so they can determine whether he is capable of an AFL career.

That's showing favouritism. It should remain at 6-7 games not 6-8 so he can gain confidence and deliver on his potential. Anyway IMO there has to be reasons why this dude has yet to get a game and when you look at our dysfunctional forward line etc and his apparent form in the 2s I just feel he is one of those good VFL players. Surely we can't have got it so wrong with him.

Another product of our development fails. A 20 year old 202cm forward that wins the VFL goal kicking award in a team that finished near the bottom of the VFL ladder but can't get a game. Couldn't even get a run in the NAB Challenge this year.

Will probably never know what this kid could have been, seems to be very much on the outer along with Elton,

Having watched a fair bit of VFL, he's just not consistent enough. Even when he kicks 3-4 goals, that's often all he does. At the next level up, he won't get nearly as many opportunities so he needs to work harder and find more strings to his bow. He seems to have either hit a plateau or reached his peak. Hopefully it's the former because he has some great traits for AFL footy but I'm worried they won't translate to the top level.

I hope he gives himself the chance to get a few senior games before a decision is made on him at the end of the year.

Has played 1 & half games at AFL level, had his chances ;)

You missed the plot mate as Chaplin is robbing this kid games.

Altona will swoop
Funny you say this Cogga as at the last Coburg home game a loyal Coburg supporter whispered to me ," the Coburg FC could do with that bloke RFC never play who won the goal kicking last year in the VFL ". I replied ," DH is making it more of a reality for you than a dream ."

Honestly I don't care if that is all he does! Kick 3-4 goals a game and he gets a free pass on tackles, 'team acts' Etc. from me. He might be useless at everything except kicking bags...I know it's old fashioned but he'd play every game in my side.

Youre missing my point. He won't kick even close to 3-4 at AFL level. A lot of the goals he kicks at VFL level are cheapies. He won't get that many chances at the top level. He barely went near the ball on Sat and didn't even have a single shot on goal.
