I don't think he will make it to 50 games for us and it pains me to say it, as i am a fan of him. He is too inconsistent, not just week to week performance wise, but also in effort. He needs to consistently put in effort, week in week out. At the moment, he can't do it at VFL level and won't make it to AFL level if it continues.

This is spot on. He could improve but needs to do so this season (in the VFL)....

McBean needs to seek his fortune at some other club
He is being left to rot with us

He is being left to rot because he isn't applying himself to the extent the coaches expect.

Either he isn't applying himself, or he is and it isn't good enough.

So you rather keep him in the 2's because our midfielders are no good? Whats our VFL midfield like? Should he be dropped there too?
No. He isnt playing well in the VFL, so brining him into the AFL where hes going to be against better opponents and have shit delivery would mean he would do shit all.

Here's another thought, maybe if we had another decent forward our team could kick too it would straighten them up and give them confidence going forward instead of knowing the ball is basically going to come back over our heads.
Stupid thought tbh

He is 21 ffs

So you think he is quite happy to keep playing in the 2's while we expect him to kick 4 or 5 a game and he sees others doing less than that & getting game time, you think he will stay around at years end?

I'd be looking elsewhere right now.

'21ffs'
How old does he need to be before he can start playing AFL?
I want him to play AFL games this year...but that seems unlikely ...so if he doesn't, if I was McBean, I'd be looking elsewhere for more chances
He came in very, very skinny. He still has more time before he should be playing AFL

I don't know. I don't know him. You don't know him. I don't know the coaches and what they are saying to him. You don't know the coaches and what they are saying to him.

I have no idea about whether McBean can make it at AFL level or not. He just hasn't been given enough opportunity at AFL level for me to form an opinion. I think RFC needs to play him in the Seniors for 6 - 8 weeks straight regardless of his output just so they can determine whether he is capable of an AFL career.

You would love a journo, to ask the question of Hardwick at a presser " why isn't Liam McBean getting a senior game considering where the team is, at the moment "

Another product of our development fails. A 20 year old 202cm forward that wins the VFL goal kicking award in a team that finished near the bottom of the VFL ladder but can't get a game. Couldn't even get a run in the NAB Challenge this year.

Will probably never know what this kid could have been, seems to be very much on the outer along with Elton,
Two different scenarios.
McBean has shown something in the VFL, and fails to get a go, for reasons known only by the club.
Elton isn't up to it now, and I doubt very much he will be in the future.

We either give him proper AFL game time this year or bid him farewell at seasons end

I'd keep him around for another year or two.... Not against giving him game time but not ahead of TV or Griff at this moment, unless he can kick multiple goals in multiple weeks at VFL level (and the other guys warrant being dropped - he can't ruck so he has to play as a pure forward). I would certainly give him game time ahead of Chaplin though and would have played him instead of Maric or Hampson last week and had TV be the pinch hit ruckman...

He might make it, he might not.... but to get a game now he needs a few decent games in a row (not huge bags but consistently solid). Later in the season he'll be more likely to get games on the back of lesser form.

Is only 21. No need to cast him off yet. Would give another year or two also.

Still yet to see the two great warriors in Ty and Griff get multiple go also over multiple weeks. One week stint in the vfl then straight back in.

Elton is a more natural fwd than defender. Day one he was turned into a defender. Doubt Greg Norman would have been as good a golfer if his coach made him switch to left hand early on? Would like to see this club recruit players and play them in their natural position for a change.

Griff just had a couple in the VFL didn't he? Plus coming back from injury. Also spent considerable time there in the past. TV is a different matter... he has clearly had opportunities at times other haven't. He was also young at a time we were very crap so managed to get his game time experience up early which seems to have given him 'runs on the board' compared to some others.

I'm sort of hoping that C.Ellis, Menadue, Rioli and Lennon get the same opportunities.... and become consistent performers (good performers that is).
